well, see, that's the problem right there. You're living in suburban NJ, you're standing in the face of over 50 years of progress towards the American Dream, built on the premise of the automobile allowing people to move away from the riotous streets of the inner cities and live outside the city in quiet detached homes with lawns and garages and nice schools. They offered white families the opportunities to start new lives in the suburbs, while they redlined areas of the city where black people live, lowering their property values and turning the buildings into slums. Then they destroyed whole neighborhoods to make the way for the new expressways which would let them live far away from black people, yet easy enough access with their cars from New Jersey. Why do you think all those bridges got built throughout the city during the 20th century? It's because engineers and city planners took advantage of the new advances in road and automobile technologies and built new roads in coordination with developers throughout the Tri-State Area so has to secure the future for white families and to keep the rest of the riff raff in the city. Then they started moving their jobs out of the city, and into the suburbs.
So it's not surprising that they see you as the next barbarian conquorer of whitelandia. you're trying to get a promotion for a job for a company located where the local population is 80% white. That's worse than Staten Island.

i was born in the bronx, where my father grew up and spent most of his life he worked his way through college at fordham, while taking care of his mother and sister at the same time, with no father around because he left when he was very young. he met my mother and moved to jersey, got a good job, worked his way up. we lived in middletown for awhile and eventually moved to holmdel. we were considered middle class though because we didn't live in one of the mcmansions that populate most of the southern end of town.
now if my father was black, im sure it would have been twice as hard to play the cards he was dealt early on. everyone has their own struggles to overcome. complaining about your circumstance isnt going to change anything. you can either complain about them or work your ass off to make a better life for yourself.
not all white people are like your boss. not all the white people that are rich had it easy getting to where they are now. your blanket statements about white people are as racist as the ones stupid white people make.
