And lets not pretend the yanks had the potent line up of all stars they would eventually buy, this was pre-giambi, arod, sheffield, etc.
This was the brocious, jeter, oniell, tino, Bernie, & knoblauch yankee team.
It all started goin downhill for me as a fan when they started buying all these guys up.

This years lineups are far more competitive, while both the Mets and Yankees have the same starting pitching issues. The Mets have a deeper bullpen, while the Yankees have a more playoff tested closer.

I want a subway series. No matter who wins or loses.
Just so the rest of the country is forced to watch NY baseball.

They never do, ratings are never good outside of New York when New York teams compete. Which is odd because the Mets and Yankees draw more fans than any other teams on the road. I guess its just envy. They want to beat us but they don't want to watch us try to beat each other.

well it will draw more than last years series.
plus who cares if your team didnt make it? I didnt watch last years series.
I watched the red sox series cause there was history involved in that series, but I didnt watch the first few games though because who cares who wins game 1 or 2?
Naturally if the yanks make it I am watching, if they both make it I am definitly watching every inning.
Honestly even if the mets make it and the yanks don't I will watch but I will skip the first couple games at least.

i usually watch if it turns out to be an interesting series after the first two games if my team isnt in it, i usually always watch when the yankees are in it just because they're the team i most closely follow outside of the mets. and of course i watch every single pitch of the mets in the playoffs and watch about 80% of the regular season games.
i find myself conflicted when watching the yankees in the playoffs because i dont want to root for them but wind up enjoying whatever the outcome is.
i'm happy if they lose because they always win (which hasnt been true for 6 years now, but this was the case pre 2000) or i'm happy they won because my yankee fan friends are happy and i know how great it is to have that feeling when the mets win and i can appreciate that.
that of course goes way out the window if they're playing the mets, in which case i hope they beat their brains in.

it was quite funny indeed, I liked the part where he had to make a note to put his hand over his heart.
and of course the "wait for applause" notes were priceless.
