My co-worker was putting away client files and I was on a phone call but could hear her whispering something. So I get off the phone and take a closer listen and she's singing the alphabet, to figure out which letter goes where. This is someone who is going to be a teacher.

So the convo went:

l-m-n-o-P!!!

what are you doing?

filing..

but why are you singing the alphabet?

so I know which letters come first

but aren't you going to college?

so?

but you're going to be an english teacher!

and you need to sing the song to remember that P comes after O?

I can recite the entire alphabet easily, I've known it by heart for decades. Don't even have to sing. I can also read without moving my lips.

i sort of do that but never out loud.
however to my credit, if i'm trying to figure out if O comes before L, I don't start with A... I go directly to L and work my way down... to see if I hit the O

if someone gave you a letter from the middle can you instantly say what number between 1-26 it is?
