can two boneheads make one meathead?

I didnt form any opinion nor make any statements about the yankees as a team, simply that A Rod always performs well when it doesn't matter. The only times he hit 50+ homers were in when texas was in last or close to last place. Most of his home runs come when the team is blowing someone out, sure he had a couple walk offs this season but overall, he just never performs well when it actually counts. Naturally baseball is not a one man show, especially for a batter, since you can pitch around him. A pitcher is naturally more important, especially in the post-season where A Rod more than usual performs nowhere near his overall career numbers.

So what I was basically saying is what everyone has said for years, A Rod is delicate china, his numbers look amazing and pretty but too much pressure and he cracks.

The yanks as always will bounce back, its only april and they'll make the post season but it doesnt change the fact that while A Rods numbers are amazing now, they're amazing when they're losing. Once it gets back into check and they figure out the pitching, he'll flounder again, it's much easier to hit 14 homers in april while they're a shitty team and he looks like babe ruth cause now he's not the main focus of everyones hatred.
thanks for informing us about what we already know.

i pray to christ a-rod opts out and beats the daylights out of them.
anytime pal
Like I said, bizarro Yankees. Every bad break possible. Phil Hughes out for 4-6 weeks.
the new trainer is fucked.
fucking Doppler 2 Million!
May is gonna be a good month for the yanks and a bad one for a rod.
fuck Clemens.
well that was pathetic

2. Clemens will not join the yankees. it will be the yankees choice not to pay him.
ouch.
your pal!
well, they signed him, but he won't be getting 30 mil. He'll get about 1 million dollars per start.

It's not like the Yanks are going to go broke. Instead of throwing rookies on the fire every week, at least try someone who's proved himself, and has been able to keep his ERA under 4 throughout his early 40's.

So, Pettite, Wang, Moose, Igawa, Clemens, I think DeSalvo earned at least a couple more starts, and then the bullpen. The starting pitching has not been as big of a problem as the bullpen has been. True, the starters can't keep stopping in the 5th, 6th innings, but the bullpen cannot keep bleeding runs, especially Mariano, who is very much a problem right now.
OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!

pssst.....they sent igawa down to the minors.
i was unaware, hot foot, sorry I don't have my finger on the pulse of the baseball world.
last year clemens averaged less than 6 innings a game, and that was pitching in a crappy division. i guess not having to pinch hit for him early will help, but pitching in the AL won't
yeah good luck with all that
At least Clemens will allow the Yankees to finally get some innings out of their bullpen this season.

And the Yankees are paying $30 million for 2/3 of a season of Clemens since they'll have to pay about $10 million in luxury tax.

And I thought Mattsuzaka at 100 million for six years was overpriced.
