I didn't even mention Feliciano. Another prime example of Ranolph's managerial indecisiveness. He starts the season as a dominant left-handed specialist. Then towards the All-Star break he begins being used as more of an overall set-up man, pitching to righties too. He continued to get outs, but became rather wild, against lefties as well.There was a stretch around July when he had no control, fell behind and gave in, walked people, hit people. In the second half, Randolph seemed unsure of how to use him. Sometimes he'd be brought in exclusively for lefties, sometimes he'd pitch to righties. I questioned this whole matchup strategy in April and the explanation was that he was still in the process of defining set roles in the bullpen. An understandable explanation. But how do you explain the fact that some guys had no roles defined in August and September?
