Australia is out. Where should my next fake vacation be? I'm thinking maybe Mars.

I spent the last week in San Diego then LA. Saw the first game of each Mets series; Monday and Thursday. Typical Mets loss Monday vs. Wells. Several opportunities not cashed in, with Beltran being his typical unclutch self. Was hoping at least to get to see a Hoffman save with the Hells Bells entrance and all, but of course Heilman blew that experience for me. Thursday they scored a season high in runs, with 35 combined hits. Crazy game. At least Glavine wasn't going after 300, that would have been really disappointing.

The most important thing I learned is that west coast fans are really fucking dumb. Whenever you watch a home Dodger/Padre/any west coast team game and you hear the crowd get loud, know that the only reason they make any noise is because the jumbo screen tells them to via a "make some noise" or "get on your feet" sign. Otherwise they'd have no idea what to do.

San Diego and Petco park is awesome, Dodger Stadium not so much. Dodger fans are more concerned with punching (prohibited) beach balls in the air than paying attention to the actual fucking game. They lead the NL in attendance, but that is so deceptive because 80% of them don't show up until the 3rd inning, with another 80% leaving by the 8th inning. LA is really a horrible fucking place overall. They have 3 freeways separated by 9 numbers in the same general vicinity - 101, 105, 110. And they all lead seemingly to the same places. My sense of direction is that of a 5-year old as it is, so this was just ridiculous.

unless they changed them over the last few years (i stopped buying them a few years ago), the san diego scorecard is way better than what they put in the Met programs.

Now I know what you're thinking: "Yeah right. You could have easily just watched the games at home and kept score. That proves nothing. I especially like the fake mustard stains at the top of the Dodger scorecards. That's a nice touch. Obviously you took some mustard from the fridge and squirted some on the printed-out scorecard to make it look like some mustard dripped from your fake 'Dodger Dog'. Good job. You almost had me convinced!"

Why on earth does anyone actually "score" games? I never understood that. Even when I was a kid in the 80s before the Internet, I didn't understand it.

And those pics don't prove a thing. You could just as easily have downloaded pics of the stadium.

Well I also went to the San Diego Zoo, where I ran into Gooch and his wife, so he can vouch for my being there.
