Does anyone remember the episode of WWF Superstars, on Saturdays in the mid to late 80's, that hd Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Quick Draw Rick McGraw?

I remember the match well for a very sick reason but it just seems surreal. Piper ended the match with the sleeper, his normal finishing move. Problem was, Rick didn't "come to". He was carried out on a stretcher, never to return. Well, he didn't return because the fucker died. They announced it the following week as a matter of fact.

Now, did he really die in the ring? That's the part that bugs the shit out of me. Would the WWF, which at the time was very geared towards children, show some jobber take the dirt nap? I mean today it is likely that Vince would make a fuckin angle out of the whole fiasco, but then was a totaly different ball game.

Were charges ever pressed against Piper for killing a man?

I vaguely remember this, but if he had really died, wouldn't it have been all over the news? I don't remember Piper ever having to go to court or anything like that...

he definatly kicked it. It was complications from steroid abuse. I am not sure he drop dead in the ring, but he died at or around the same fuckin time. This is why I posed the fuckin question because my brain is shot!

i don't remember the incident making any kind of news, not even with the wwf, so i can't see piper as having killed him in the ring. perhaps it was the start of some angle where piper put people down so badly that he was gonna be some huge problem where he went around abusing jobbers...just an idea...
