I've got a video capture card on my PC and a nice digital camcorder (well, one I can borrow anyway). So, I've been thinking of doing some amature video editing for my own amusement.
Anybody try this? Any good software packages for the PC, preferably free?
I hate to say this but Final Cut Pro 3 for the Mac is the best video editing program bar none.
For you I'd suggest a "trial" version of Adobe Premiere or maybe some Avid software.
Abobe Premier looks good. I'll download the "trial" version tonight. Too bad they won't say what the diiference is between the free trial version and the $1200 full version.
Can the stuff be exported to VCD?
I'm quite skilled at the Adobe Premiere. I've used it to slice and dice the clips I shot for Foundry Music at the softball game. Feel free to AIM me if you need any assistance.
I'm not sure what file format the program outputs to? If you wanted to burn to vcd you ahve to make sure it's MPEG-1. Although you can convert it if it doesn't.
You can output to a variety of file formats. I have not done VCD but i know you can output to MPEG.
Say a shortfilm of sorts was to magically appear on your harddrive in vcd format... Um, how would you watch it ?
VCD's(MPEG-1) are watchable on your computer right away since they're such an old standard. You can also burn them on to cds to watch on certain dvd players.
