I-287 has the highest per capita dead deer on the raodside than any other paved area on the planet. It's really nasty when you're stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and you're right next to a 150 lb. decomposing deer.
As for living things, a machine shop I have to drive to from time to time has really big turtles that lay right in the middle of the only road that leads up to the place. We did have a black bear in the parking lot once too.
It's not exactly Jach Hanna's Wild Safari Goes Jersey, but it was kind of neat
