So, these people are "outraged" by a couple having anal in their church, but they have no problem with priests commiting sodomy?

Religious people might just be as hypocritical as litigators. :burnfucker:
But, I think it's hilarious that they did that stunt at St. Patties. Fuckin great. Prob is, they don't know how to pass the buck or protect themselves properly.

Personally, i'm not surprised they are being pulled. a good management & producer needs to envision these things before they happen. The show refuses to move out Rick, who sucks, and WNEW management holds no respect, nor should. So, it's been a longtime comin. O&A will continue to shoot themselves in the foot the more they sit on a bigger stage with unprofessionals around them. And, WNEW management will always pass the buck in lieu of a pissed off Infinity Corp b/c they don't have a leg to stand on themselves.
I get the feeling that O&A are sitting in an office at WNEW with management trying to come up with a way to appease the FCC and keep them on the air. I think a "one week unpaid suspension" might do it. But, this is the FCC we are talking about.

I also think it is wrong that the FCC weilds so much power and yet they are an elected force that acts on the complaints of few (sometimes 1) rather than acting on the applause of many.

There has to be a point where just because one person is offended it doesn't mean that 13 million are deprived of something.
It's funny cause it's not me. Anybody who gets upset over whether or not a radio show is on the air, other than those who conduct the show, should really reevaluate their priorities in life.

On a side note, when do you think it will be time for me to write my, "A brief introduction to country music" when WNEW loses their license and clear channel gets the rights and puts a country station in its place?

Unfortunately, our legal system operates on the concept of whoever is the most offended wins.

Shock Jocks Muzzled in Sex Incident

By LARRY McSHANE

NEW YORK (AP) - In the almost-anything-goes world of radio, home to Howard Stern and Don Imus, a pair of New York shock jocks discovered what goes too far: sex inside St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Opie and Anthony, co-hosts of WNEW-FM's popular afternoon drive-time program, remained off the air for a second day Tuesday while a 350,000-member Catholic group pushed for their station to get its license revoked. The pair allegedly broadcast a live, eyewitness account of a couple having sex in the landmark Manhattan church.

``Nothing would make us happier than for WNEW's license to be revoked,'' said William Donohue, head of the Catholic League, which has also demanded a hefty fine for WNEW's parent company. The station is one of 180 owned nationwide by Infinity Broadcasting.

FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, saying he had received hundreds of outraged phone calls and e-mails, promised that the complaints were ``on the fast track'' for consideration by his agency.

If they prove true, he said, ``this commission should consider the strongest enforcement action possible against this station, up to and including revocation.''

The incident occurred last Thursday, when a Virginia couple was arrested after allegedly having sex in a vestibule just a few feet from worshippers in the church. The encounter was described as it happened during the ``Opie and Anthony'' show.

It was part of a regular feature where couples can win prizes for having sex in risky places.

Brian Florence, 37, of Quantico, Va., and Loretta Lynn Harper, 35, of Alexandria, Va., were arrested on charges of public lewdness. Show producer Paul Mercurio, 42, who called via cell phone and described their actions, was charged with acting in concert.

The Virginia pair was due back in court Wednesday. Their attorney, Miranda Fritz, has said they were only simulating sex.

Infinity, after allowing its DJs back on the air Friday afternoon, decided to remove Greg ``Opie'' Hughes and Anthony Cumia beginning Monday.

``We will continue to look into the matter,'' said Dana McClintock, a spokesman for Infinity Broadcasting, adding that ``Opie and Anthony'' reruns would air indefinitely.

The show is nationally syndicated in 17 markets outside New York City, including Cleveland, Dallas, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Washington, D.C.

Over the past decade, the standards for broadcasting have coarsened, led by the envelope-pushing antics of Stern, Imus and a legion of imitators.

But Opie and Anthony went beyond most. In 1998, they were fired from a Massachusetts station after announcing on April Fool's Day that Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino had died in a car crash.

Last year, ads for their program were yanked from 40 Westchester County buses after officials discovered that their ``WOW'' logo was a code encouraging women to doff their tops.

And two months ago, the FCC imposed a $21,000 fine on Infinity after citing three ``indecent'' bits that appeared on the show between November 2000 and January 2001, one involving incest.

What's funny is if their lawyer proves they were faking it, wouldn't that prove that the whole contest was fake? And they were just going through the motions to fool any rabid fans following the contestants around?
The OTL Merger may not be such a bad idea now, pull the string!!!
Maybe those of us who weren't offended should tell the FCC that? I'm not saying we should "save" Opie and Anthony...I'm merely saying that perhaps the FCC is violating our right of choosing what to and what not to listen to. I've always had a feeling it wasn't real sex to be honest...but it'd be REAL funny to see it be proven in court.

Nah, that sounds like a lot of work
True...I don't like to work.
I bet the lawyers argument will be his cock was too large and her vagina is too small to accomodate it.

If the cock does no t fit. You must acquit.
Sex before marriage = miscarriage?
Lawyer: Mr. Mercurio, did you actually witness the penetrtion.
Mercurio: Yes, I did. It was my repsonsibility to verify that intercourse was actually taking place.
Lawyer: So, you had a clear view of the anus of the female defendant...
Mercurio: That's correct.
Lawyer: ...and were looking directly at the genitalia of the male defendant...
Mercurio: No, no, no I don't look at man junk.
Lawyer: But you said you witnessed the act.
Mecurio: Yes.
Lawyer: But you never actually saw the "man junk" as you put it.
Mercurio: No, I refused to look at it.
The irony, first mark gets fired.

Now hopefully O&A.... think you might have learned the first time.

What amazes me is not that they did it, or people don't get it, or people are offended.

But that people acually find it entertaining that people fucked in a church, the priests have been doing it for centuries. I'd rather hear some real in-studio comedy, than GASP SHOCKING RADIO, it's so fuckin lame.
So, are O&A going to offer the Archbishop 1,000 pies to throw at their faces?
Maybe they'll go to another hospice for dying cancer kids...there's a Ronald McDonald House in NYC somewhere.
I don't know about you but i'm really, REALLY looking forward to seeing Faceman's country music show to replace O&A. No, seriously, I am. Really. No, really, I mean it.
