Kid I kinda disagree with you.....
I think that someones values always come into play.
If we were kids and I went over your house and you have lots of toys and I want to break one.....
I think it would be meaner if I broke your favorite toy than if I broke any toy at random.
Even though the toy may not be one that I even liked.
knowing it was your favorite and I did it anyway makes it seem more spiteful and more personal an attack.

Ken you are talking about a possession now. Sacred ground in not a possession, but a belief. Like Kid said, just because you hold someplace sacred, it does not mean I have too. I really couldn't care less what happens to O&A, but I do care if the actions that are taken against them are because of religion.
In the end it is like it is here, people always find something wrong with someone else and never look at themselves. Peoples lives can be so empty at times they need to take part in some "crusade" for the betterment of the world. People are fuckin pussies and too PC to the point you can't fart in the privacy of your own home without having to answer for it. Organized religion has been fucking people in the ass for centuries, and this is news? People don't take enough time looking at themselves for the pieces of shit they are, or they do and want to make other people suffer.
O&A still suck and sold out a long time ago in my book and I can care less what happens to them. As I said before it is not the fact that this happened or that people are shocked by it, that irks me. The fact that they think a visual joke is funny on radio is idiotic to me. I'd rather hear talk than SHOCKING radio that howard did 20 years ago. You are paid to talk, TALK MOTHERFUCKER!!!
the times i really enjoy stern or o and a is when its just the people from the show bullshitting. whether its about their weekends, them tooling on someone for screwing up, or whatever, thats always the best radio to me. they hardly ever do that, and when they do its always 'oh we know this has been a crappy show' and then drain all the energy from the convo.
I've never found any visual gag on O&A the least bit amusing.
I think it would help if you think of sacred ground in the same context as the land under an embassy being considered part of the country that operates the embassy.
I think the ACLU should sue the church for breaking the couple civil right to worship the way they see fit. Perhaps they could argue that fucking is their form of prayer?
You could argue his cock was the sacrament.
That is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard, Mr.Dent.
That's like saying that the islands in the carribean that are owned by England are a part of Europe.
Let us be honest here, any viewpoint can be rationalized if the argument is perceived to be strong enough. The bottom line is that this country is all but controlled by christians. Thusly, any action against the christian religion is sure to reap the fury of it. Unfortunately, it takes a special kind of stupidity to be so enthused about religion. Thusly, all reason and fact is thrown out the window out of respect for a deity.
If "god" was truly a deity that designed humans in the image of himself, didn't he/she want more for us than for us to bow at his/her feet and bask in his/her glory?
I often wonder how disappointed people will be if "judgement day" comes, and they realize that they have lived there lives exactly the way "god" had NOT intended.

ever?
Not what I meant.
Ever travel overseas? No matter where you go, your an American. Don't need to be in the US to be one. But, when you need the support of the US, you go to the embassy cause that's where you get that support. Religious people feel the same way about their house of worship. It's where they believe they get the support they need.
The church grounds are held sacred in the same way, and for much the same reason, as the ground under an embassy is considered sovereign land.
Oh, so it's like home base when you're playing tag. You can't be tagged "it" once you step onto home base.
You know, you can run into and embassy and thumb your nose at the terrorists that were chasing you, right?
Yeah but an embassy was asked to be built by the leader of said country.
When did GOD ask for a house of worship to be built to him? Aren't you not supposed to put the lords face on anything, yet there are pictures of jesus everywhere. Organized religion is made to make money plain and simple. MOney and control over people.
I think God frowns upon organized religion.
FUCK THE FCC AND ALL (DIS)ORGANIZED RELIGION!!!! :burnfucker: :fuckoff: :fuckoff: :fuckoff: :fuckoff:

what does the fcc have to do with this? they haven't done anything yet. this is just a business giving in to a public outcry.

those scumbags are the ones saying that they are going to conduct an investigation which could lead to revokation of WNEW's licence

Not exactly. This is business caving in to a very small minority who somehow over the years have gained major power due to strong-arm tactics and public gullability, namely the catholic league.
If this was up to the ACTUAL public, this incident wouldnt even be a blip on the radar, because us, as the general public, have better things to do than wonder if Jesus Is upset by the radio.

If you're looking for long-term consequences from Opie and Anthony's Excellent Adventure last Thursday, when two of their WNEW listeners were arrested for either having or faking sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral, it's more likely to come from public pressure than the Federal Communications Commission.
The FCC considers indecency complaints and it expects to receive one on this case, though as of Tuesday it had not. "Assuming we do," said a spokesman, "we will handle this as we handle all cases - as expeditiously as possible."
But the content of that day's O&A broadcast, which is what the FCC would primarily consider, does not seem to be the kind of material for which the commission does more than levy fines.
"If the WNEW broadcast was actionably indecent as defined by prior FCC cases, the station licensee may be subject to a forfeiture of a sum of money," said John Garziglia, a Washington lawyer in communications law. "If the broadcast was simply tasteless, that lack of redeeming value is something from which many radio and television broadcasts suffer."
What triggered this case was Opie and Anthony's "Sex for Sam" contest, in which couples can win a trip to the Samuel Adams Brewery in Boston for a concert and party to which many stations around the country send listeners.
This is the third year Opie and Anthony have run the contest on WNEW, and Garziglia suggested this is significant because for a broadcast to be ruled indecent, FCC rules say it must violate "community standards."
"Except for the religious significance of the location, and except that the couple was apparently caught in the act," Garziglia said, "I find it telling that until now, no one in the listening audience was offended by prior broadcasts of this somewhat titillating contest."
that was from some article i read. i don't know which one because a million are being posted every where and you lose track.

Well, I never thought of myself as a religious person before...
