Keyser might have a point about reinstalling that application, you'll need your original Windows disk. Try that, it couldn't hurt.

Getting slightly off topic...

I think it's safe to say that you've got a Hell of a lot of crap running when you boot up - I'm willing to bet most of this stuff can be stopped by using MSCONFIG. If you decide to change your settings to stop this stuff from starting, just make sure you know exactly what you're shutting off BEFORE you do it.

Also, you should see Explorer and Systray running when you hit ALT-TAB-DELETE and select the "processes" tab - that's actually a more realistic window that shows what is really running on boot.
im still trying to figure out what "digstream.exe" was. i removed it from msconfig a few weeks ago.

EDIT: Right after i posted this, did a google search on digstream and look what i found...

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startups_short.htm">http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pa ... _short.htm</a><!-- m -->

and this...

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm">http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pa ... p_full.htm</a><!-- m -->

"digstream.exe : DIGStream Cache Manager - part of ESPN Motion that periodically checks for new videos periodically, downloading them in the background is available. Starting ESPN Motion starts digstream automatically"

this could be really helpful

Okay, here's an update. I checked the processes that were running, and had Brokenjaw double check, since according to Arpi, I'm a moron. There is no systray. Nada, zip, zilch.

BUT, he tried to do disk cleanup on "D", and it worked instantly. What the Hell is going on?
So are we out of ideas? Do I really have to reinstall windows?
I'm kinda tapped Sweet - if you can't reinstall the app you might have to do the whole OS. You can try MS.com, but it might be faster just to do a reinstall.
Ah poop. Thanks for trying to help, anyway. :thumbs-up:
