We do have thousands upon thousands of troops over there for a reason you know, the bombs are simply going to take out his key military facilities so we can send our troops in to clean up.

Quote:American strategists believe that by ousting Saddam Hussein, they will intimidate would-be terrorists. That might work in the short run, especially if combined with successes against al-Qaeda and with the Sharon government's no-holds-barred military offensive in the Gaza Strip, but it's not likely to provide a lasting solution. Al-Qaeda and other Arab terrorist groups put an Islamic gloss on Arab opposition to American and British imperialism, and to Israel as a proxy for Western imperialism. An American occupation of Iraq, along with continued backing for the Sharon government, would only strengthen this opposition. The immediate reaction could be confined to raucous but terminable street demonstrations. Yet if peoples and movements feel themselves faced with superior and unyielding military force, they often turn -- as the Chechens and Palestinians already have -- to terrorism.

As the Europeans have urged, the first step toward reducing terrorism in the region is not to invade Iraq but to begin resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. After the Gulf War, the intifada continued to rage but was cut short by the first Bush administration's aggressive diplomatic initiatives, the victory in 1992 of a Labor government and the subsequent Oslo Accords. If this Bush administration were to follow up a victory in Iraq with a peace offensive in Israel, it could, perhaps, begin removing a critical source of terrorism and unrest. With the pro-Likud Elliot Abrams now firmly in charge of policy toward Israel, however, the Bush administration is unlikely to pressure Israel to withdraw from the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The region's peoples also have long memories. The Israelis keep believing that they have subdued Palestinian militancy only to find it returning stronger than ever. The first intifada took place five years after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon drove Yasir Arafat to Tunisia. In Iran, the United States helped engineer a coup against Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq in 1953, restoring Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi to power and helping him crush his political opposition. But the opposition finally rose up again in the late 1970s, overthrew the shah and installed a virulently anti-American regime dominated by Islamic clerics. What goes around comes around.

Of course a U.S. overthrow of Hussein wouldn't necessarily embitter the Iraqis themselves. But the specter of the United States, with Israel watching enthusiastically from the sidelines, brutally imposing its will on an Arab regime, even one unpopular with its citizens, could inspire a strong response in the Arab world that would eventually take the form of terrorism. And if an American occupation persisted in Iraq, the Iraqis, too, might turn against their would-be liberators.

No matter how many so called innocent people we kill, we will never reach a tenth of the number saddam himself has killed or ordered to be killed. Lets let him gas a couple hundred thousand more innocent people, let him build up an arsenal and then when he feels like it he can start the war on his terms and we can play catch up.

Maybe another 3,000 american civilians need to die, cause fickle uneducated americans who have too much time on their hands and the luxury of speaking out against war, have not clue fuckin one.

Their main excuse is that it is all about oil, america and britain are gonna split up the oil. Britain exports oil, france and germany are more dependant on iraq than we are, answer a question maybe?

Everyone agrees that saddam is a threat and he needs to disarm, yet war is not the answer. Well come on general patton, lead us and tell us what the answer is.

Everyone wants to be a general, yet no one will lead the charge.
I don't believe the ties to 9-11 trace to Saddam,
they used fucking box cutters not WOMDs,
this war is about a lot of things, terrorism is just a fraction of the cause....
Trying to pin 9/11 on saddam or connect it to him is ridiculous. That woulda been like trying to pin a DWI on Dahmer. It's not like the fuckin guy ain't done enough shit.

Quote:"If the war starts and if (President) Saddam Hussein uses chemical or biological weapons, it would change completely the situation for the French president and for the French government, and President (Jacques) Chirac will have to decide what we will do to help the American troops to confront this new situation.

So let me get this straight, we need to give Iraq more time to disarm their WMD which they claim they don't have, but if they use these weapons that technically don't exist, then the French will jump on the bandwagon and help us.

So if Iraq is lying then the French won't be their friends anymore. Personally, I'd tell them to take their help and shove it up their collective asses.
most of the autrocities were pre Gulf War I,
I think we have to let that go. I won't defend Saddam, but I think we are seizing an opportunity to further the Neo Conservative agenda of reshaping the middle east into a more friendly environment for US $$$ and Israel.
It'd suck if he used our own weapons on us from the iran-iraq scuffle.
I think Saddam has naked pictures of him butt fucking Chirac. That is why he is doing everything to stop us from invading Iraq.
You really think they will capture Saddam and his sons?
We submitted those pics to the UN,

turned out to be forgeries.
anyone else think chirac looks like james garner
Teenweek is on fire,
I think you could do 5 min on Letterman with this shit.
not really, but ever pic I see of him, he looks terrified. go figure
Yeah cause the french have always been such great leaders and ready for the fight, they sure showed them nazi's. Atleast poland put up a fight and got whupped, france just bent over.

or the fact that the french and russians do tremendous amounts of business with iraq and know that if the us takes over they lose all of that. also because the french and germans would like nothing better than to see a less influential US.
