So, I realized that my Visor Prism is a dinosaur when I had to start stripping stuff out just to sync to AvantGo and Vindigo. I started shopping around, and was thinking about the Treo 90 when I saw the Tungsten line. Now, Im happy with my Verizon cellphone, so I don't want a GSM phone (so the other treos and the Tungsten W are out), but I like the idea of a wireless internet solution, so that leaves the Wi-Fi (Tungsten C) and Bluetooth (Tungsten T).

I think the T may win, unless the WiFi thing is worth it. I havn't played with any WiFi devices, although I have stared longingly at that "HotSpot" sign when Im getting a java fix at Starbucks. Is it worth the extra cash? I know it's a subscription thing too, so the extra 30 bucks a month seems steep, unless it really rocks, I can live without it.

Any war stories?
its a subscription? i know if you have a verizon dsl or dial up account you can use that username and pw to login to their hotspots around nyc

Sweet!!!!!!!!
Okay, now how about any users out there....how does it work in the real world?
i was wondering the same thing because i've been seriously considering it between the verizon hotspots and for when i'm at school and their wireless network
I can't wait until I get a job so I can upgrade all my technology.

I have a Palm m100 that has been setting in a desk drawer for at least three years and a Nokia 8260

I use my visor on a daily basis. I have a 2mb phonebook (!), and since Im bad with numbers to begin with (as you can tell from the subheading on this thread) I use the calculator almost as much as I use the datebook.

Of course, this is only during business hours - I never lug the thing around with me unless Ive got my briefcase.
i just got my dell axim like an hour ago and this thing is sweet
i don't have a wifi router so i don't know how good dells wireless card is yet, but i didn't have to buy it through them since you can put any compact flash wifi card into it
I got the Axim a couple of weeks back too and I love it. It's gonna be great when I'm back on campus and I get a CF wi-fi card, since most of campus is covered by the network. Sitting on the library steps, on AIM... that's the life. Or getting porn during a boring lecture... I love technology. :4:
what kind of software did you put on it that works good?
like games and stuff
That works good? Ooh, thats the tricky part. Okay, gnuboy is great, its a gameboy emulator (I'm almost done with Pokémon!)... and PocketNES only rarely crashes. PocketDIVX plays mpegs, but its kinda finicky. Forget about remote control programs, the infrared on the Axim reaches 10 inches, unless you buy a thing to extend the range... it's not like an official product... look it up, it seems all Pocket PCs have this issue. Er, what else? Hmm. OOOOH, gotta get PocketExplorer, because the built in file exporer SUCKS.

Find it all at tucows.com.
they're all free right?
i installed the pocketdivx thing for a little bit to see if it worked but i deleted it
i need to get a memory card
everything I just mentioned is, indeed, free.
before i was playing around with windows media encoder to stream my tv tuner output so i can watch it over the internet and eventually pda..
on my dsl at home it seems to slow up my connection, but at school i don't see why it wouldn't work good over the network
also i forgot to mention, it came with windows pocket pc 2003, and the file manager program in that doesn't seem to bad
jesus christ i thought i was a loser
:5:
how predictable Rolleyes
I got one of the last IPAQ 1910's I could find (a couple of months ago). It doesn't have wireless internet, or even an expansion port, but it's skinny and has a kickass screen. I was lovin' it until I threw down for a 256MB SD card which never works properly. I sync it to my work computer once per day, and I'm good to go.
