BALDWIN, N.Y. -- New York Jets defensive lineman John Abraham was charged with drunken driving after he drove his sports utility vehicle into a fire hydrant and lightpole, police said.
The accident occurred late Wednesday on Long Island, Nassau County police said. Abraham, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Jets coach Herman Edwards will address the situation at a Thursday afternoon news conference, the team said. The Jets are in their bye week after beginning the season 0-4.
Abraham was scheduled for arraignment Thursday in District Court in Hempstead.
Nice to see that the drinking has started on the jets. Get a couple of guys addicted to crack and hitting their wives and they can star in their own episode of playmakers
