Quote:That's what everyone said about the texas governer who was viewed by the majority as a moron who had no political kowlege beyond his first and last name.
He was elected to two terms as govenor of Texas, had a bachelors from Yale and an MBA from Harvard, and served as a fighter pilot in the Air Force. A tad different than Kucinich.

Clinton was just as shady as the rest of them.
12-22-2003, 06:32 AM
I don't understand what Clinton did that was so great that everyone wants him to come back.

If being AWOL most of the time translates to "served" I don't think the world would be too impressed with our military force.
Plus with his family name and monetary backing to many institutions including Harvard, what did you expect him to have? A 2 year degree from a community college?
12-22-2003, 06:36 AM
I'm sorry, I just don't have teh cock-sure attitude that you have that he just hit the bong and laid back while his teachers all gave him A's during his tenure as student of two of the most highly regarded institutions of higher learning. I do believe he had to work at it.

I don't think someone's educational background should be that influencial in deciding whether they can lead our nation anyway. Harvard and Yale are just fancy names to wave around, and don't mean all that much in the long run.

I wasn't trying to say that when I mentioned it. I was stating it because it infuriates me when people say "OH MY GOD, HES A FUCKING MORON, HE ONLY KNOWS HIS FIRST AND LAST NAME BRING BACK CLINTON!"
The 50 year old who runs the frier at McDonalds, more than likely a moron. The 50 year old who graduated two of the hardest schools in the country, more than likely not a moron.

If Stephen Hawkings can roll around in a wheelchair looking like a retard and be the smartest fucking living person on the face of the earth, then I think it's possible that a man, who resembles and comes off looking like a stoned monkey, can run the greatest country on the planet.
12-22-2003, 06:55 AM
Yea, I don't think Bush is a moron. I think he's just annoyingly conservative and liked to mislead the public for his own personal agenda (which Clinton did too).
12-22-2003, 06:57 AM
Personal agenda = oil?
12-22-2003, 07:04 AM
Whatever it was, it wasn't "trying to find weapons of mass destruction".

Bush is gonna win, partially because the most likely Democratic candidate (Dean) is by a good margin the most liberal candidate the Democrats have run in a long time with the country trending conservative, and partially because of what Gonzo said, Republicans will run a campaign based around patriotism and image rather than issues and substance, and probably gain enough support to win. Also, I don't think any of the candidates are as good as Clinton was, nor is the country in as bad shape as it was in 1992 when Bush the First was unseated.
I think it sucks and I'd vote for anyone on that list over Bush (except possibly Liberman, he's almost as bad as dubya is), but I think the sad fact is were facing 4 more years of Bush.
Also Sleeper, Dean is the frontrunner because he's raised the most money, and also is leading for the same reason that he'd lose the general election: he's getting the far left's vote. Organized Labor and other bread and butter Democratic backers like Dean much more than the others.

And his agenda was not to invade iraq for oil but cause saddam tried to kill his daddy, if you believe for one second his intentions for invading iraq were not personal I feel sad for you.
That whole office is about personal agendas, cheney, ashcroft namely. Barring clinton it's been the same regime for the last 25 years.

Bush.

Bush is simply taking care of all family debts, ala Michael Corleone.
I'm writing in my vote for Carl Weathers so that the Predator political trinity may be complete.

I'll vote for Clark, because he seems like a decent human being (not a total political scumbag, but who knows, that will probably change) and he has a great military record...or Nader again. Dean's too smarmy, don't trust him.
This current admin scares the shit outta me, notwithstanding their tie-ins with Iraq originally and the Saudi family; in the pockets of the corporations Enron, Halliburton, Exxon, etc.; how they've fucked the environment (come on, Christie Whitman resigned because of what they were doing, look at the state of NJ); and how much they love to appease the religious right. If they were given free reign, without caring what the people think after the election is over, it can only get worse...

Yeah, there's also a picture out there of FDR sitting next to Stalin.

and that other guy on top of the trade centers before the plane hit.

I'll probably be voting for whichever democrat gets the nod - it will probably be Dean, who I can't stand. I'm hoping it's Clark at this point, but I doubt it.
And I remember how I once swore I'd never vote for a major party candidate...voted libertarian in the last 2 presidential elections...I just can't stand the thought of another Bush term, even though it'll likely happen.
