I've got PS2 in my room and my PC. My PC is connected to the internet by a wireless network card. I also have a regular style network card in the PC as well.
Can I share the internet connection with my PS2 by hooking up the RJ45 cable from the regular network card in my pc to the playstation?
Yes, but I think you need a x-over cable. You'll also have to use Network Connection Sharing that's built into Win2k/XP to share you incoming wireless connection over the LAN adapter.
How do I use Network Connection Sharing? Do I simply connect my cross over cable from my Lan card to my PS2?
if you have wireless, wouldnt it be easier to hook up the PS2 wirelessly also? esp. if theyre in the same room, it seems silly to run crossover cables.
i dont have a wireless adapter for my PS2
they're like $40 - the Linksys ones are really good, just plug them in and you're done.
ok well i cant get one right now, how do i run my net connection from my pc to my PS2 then?
Are you using a wireless router for your PC? Doesn't it have 4 wire ports? If so, run Cat5 from one of those ports to the PS2. Why are you trying to go through the PC?
the router is upstairs, i do that with it already when im close enough to the router. thus the reason why im looking for alternate means to get on the network.
I assumed the router was in the same room - sorry.
I guess you can try the patch cable like Kid said and enable internet sharing, but Im not sure if that'll work. Most times, like with 2 PC's, you gotta enable the IS on both - I don;t think you can do that on a PS2.
Look into getting one of those wireless adapters though - they're supposedly really good. I couldnt go wireless, I've got too much shit going on so I'd get loads of interference.
that's kinda cool, seems like a lot of work though.
ok i tried it but this is what my network connections window looks like now...

There might be some interference from the wall socket. Get a fork and try to clear out any dust in there.
i spent an hour making my own crossover cable and it still didnt work
by now you could've gone to Best Buy and bought the adapter, opened it, hooked it up and played a few rounds of SOCOM with Mad.
