definitely

Here's a quote from sleeper:
Quote:definetly
Which immediately followed a quote from DIG
Quote:definitly
I have often spelled it "definately". But it never looks right no matter how I spell it.

Sometimes it's definately, definatley, someitmes I even get it correct - it's really a crapshoot, but "definately" is really the way that I normallly mess it up. I always have to go to dictionary.com to see how to spell it. I hate that.

I'm going to make a conscious effort to spell this right from now on.

Kind of like how I can't every say the word "statistics". It's impossible. I always sound like I have roll of quarters in my mouth.
just write "define" and add a tly . thats how i remembered.

i always misspell thier, or is it their?
Their.
I can't type because, it's usually becasue.
their

i fuck up: alot

which is supposed to be: a lot
Quote:just write "define" and add a tly . thats how i remembered.
but that's not how you spell it
There/their/theyre. I see the faggoty "i" before "e" except after "c" thing does not work for "their"; another fond legend is destroyed.
i before e except after c isn't the whole rhyme. there's more to it, most people just don't know it
Quote:i fuck up: alot

which is supposed to be: a lot

my girlfriend viciously corrects me on this all the time
Quote:Addendum:

According to The Complete Word Book by Mary A. DeVries, this is the entire "i before e" spelling rule:

Use i before e except after c or when sounded like a as in neighbor or weigh; and except seize and seizure and also leisure, weird, height, and either, forfeit, and neither.

As you can see, this covers most of the cases.
Why isn't it "neitheir" or "eitheir" instead of "neither" or "either"?

You ARE a hipstah.

either you're completely wrong or i'm completely fucked up but i always remember that it's related to finite. my problems arise with disappointed and cincinnatti
per usual, Arpi is wrong and someone else is correct.

In this case, it's Sleeper and CRX
you shoulda seen how many times it took me to spell out finitinite

I can't say that either.

As far as what I can't type, I always type "marital" as "martial" and "amboy" as "amoby". And "omission" gives me spelling problems.
