why not just call up Pfizer? They have all sorts of offices is NYC. I've found when looking for a job that cold calling companies directly rather than looking for ads, is much more successful.
And don't call HR, call the division in which you want to work.

good lord that is long. maybe it's cause i was looking for entry level jobs but i was told you should limit it to a page.
05-04-2004, 08:02 PM
yeah i need to mow down my resume. its been awhile since i've looked for a job so i haven't done much work on it other than update it.
05-04-2004, 08:03 PM
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
That resume is way too long.
Also, it says you are "working toward a degree" in undergrad since '96, have you not graduated?
And there are a bunch of jobs there, makes it look like you bounce from job to job. I'd put maybe three jobs in there max. Then cut down the extaneous stuff

ive been at BMS for almost 3 years now.
i've yet to finish my Bacherlors, i need another semester or two to finish my degree in Business Marketing. i just put Comp Sci. cause i was always applying for IT jobs.
i ran out of money and left school in 99 to go work at Newmark, never went back to finish.

take out the "working toward a degree". Don't lie and say you have your B.A in your resume, but just don't included that phrase, and they'll assume you graduated. If they ask, then be up front.
Here's an old one for me; I just added a couple bullets about Bernstein.

Everyone in resume land:
Take out your references from your resume. Employers aren't going to bother checking referrences until after they have met you and are close to hiring you, in which case they'll ask for it. Plus, I'm guessing your references don't want their names and numbers floating around all over the place.
Take out "reference available upon request" Everyone knows that they're available upon request. It's implied, and just takes up space on the resume.
