Quote:he writer's point of view is that the American invasion, yes invasion not liberation, of Iraq is not something that should be thought of as heroic or praiseworthy.
but tillman wasn't in iraq
the writer never even mentions iraq
that was poorly constructed on my part. i should have referred to this passage...

Quote:Al-Qaeda won't be defeated in Afghanistan, even if we did kill all their operatives there. Only through careful and logical changing of the underlying conditions that allow for the ideology to foster will Al-Qaeda be defeated. Ask the Israelis if 50 years of blunt force have eradicated the Palestinian resistance.
he mentioned it once, and he was grouping the iraqi and afgani war together which i don't think is fair. there is real reason to be in afganistan, the iraq one....

thats just his opinion

this kid is an idealist. i bet he thinks he can go over there and negotiate a nice little treaty with them if he was given the chance
I agree with a lot of the editorial, except stereotyping him as a macho football player looking for vengeance is out of line. I also agree with hedcold that the editorial shouldn't be getting any special attention, although I think the reason it is is because the UMass paper wouldnt print it? I'm not sure.
no, they printed it
