I miss my broadband connection :9:
welcome back to 1995
christ, you dont have broadband where you are now?
I didn't use the Internet for any given amount of time until '96
Assuming that Comcast isn't too busy to come and install it, I should be able to be online 24/7 again this week.

I called 2 fucking weeks ago to schedule a damn appointment. Fucking lazy assholes.
comcast is teh suck, good luck getting decent speeds with them.
Supposed to be 3Mbit down, 256k up.

Had good speeds at the old house which is only 2 blocks north of this one.
better knock on wood!!

anyone who used the computer at home prior to 1997 was probably a dork, loser, virgin, or all three
I think I got my first home PC in 1997. Before that I would use the schools.
i had a computer in 93, was using aol in 95/96. aol only gave you like 500 minutes a month before they started charging more
I got my first computer around 89ish...a 286 with a 2400 bps modem. It was awesome.
i had a mighty mo 300 baud modem on my commodore 64 but i dont recall the year. the only online services those days were BBS, Compuserve soon after, then Prodigy, then AOL.

I didn't use it at home, I used it at college. I ignored it for the first two years of college, but then I heard you could plagerize a bunch of stuff and see naked chicks for free.

I didn't get a computer at my home until '00
2001

I win.

I got cable installed today.

There are only 2 bad things that came out of the experience.

#1.. The cable guy hit on me. I had to take 2 showers after he left to feel clean again. The worst part about it, is that he looked like the pictures I have seen of The Jays.

It all came about when he was filling out the paperwork. He had been really nice, put the cables exactly where I wanted them, and I asked him how much I owed. He looked down at the sheet and said there was no charge. Odd.... I was told that there would be a 40 dollar installation fee due on installation. Then after about 4 seconds of awkward silence that seemed like 5 minutes, he goes "How about dinner and a movie"..

I kinda laughed it off and I could tell he knew I was rejecting him. I signed my name, he left and I showered twice. I never felt so dirty.

#2 is not so bad. I have to run cat 5 from where the modem and router are, all the way up to where my computer is now so that I can have a good connection. I am using a wireless B card but it is just way to slow and unreliable for me. I need hard wired.

Wireless just isn't quite fast enough for me yet.
