Just fucking retire already!!!

I can't be the only one who cringes every time he makes that walk from the bullpen...right?
when was the last time he had a 123 inning?
he is the poster child for the mets. they should erect a statue of him in the parking lot as he represents exactly what the mets are all about, mediocrity.

Probably June 22 against Cincinatti, at least judging by his game log. The last time he even lasted a full inning before today was June 27 against the Yankees, when he walked 1 and struck out the side.

See, here's the deal - The Mets right now have the best ERA in the majors. You look at their bullpen, everyone's ERA is between about 2.00 and 3.50...except Franco, who's embarassing himself at 5.50. Give him his car and a gold watch, a nice coaching position or something, hell retire his number...just stop putting him on the mound when he's obviously too old to be effective!

How the hell is he team captain ???

He should just retire and Mets management can fill the spot on the bullpen with someone who wont guarentee a loss when they walk on the mound!
he's been very effective against lefties, but he still sucks this year. the C on his uniform stands for choke.

wasn't that last out against posada? it was a really bad call. it shoudln't have been a strike.
not cock?
cripple. same thing.

That was a different game, July 3rd at Shea. The June 27 game was at Yankee Stadium and the Mets lost 11-6.
ahh. you're right. i don't really pay much attention to the mets other than listening to my father scream "FRANCO SUCKS!" every time he pitches.
stanton actually sucks more than franco, or at least it seems.

and yet they are below .500 and close to the cellar in their division.
sounds pretty mediocre to me. so much for your stats.
3 games back and 13 in front of last place Montreal, that's hardly close to the cellar...
5 teams, only one worse than them. 3 games out yet one game under .500. sounds like a mediocre team in a weak division to me.
franco is a situational pitcher, there's no reason to expect him to pitch a full inning. he should be coming in to get out one or 2 guys. you can either blame it on howe for using his bullpen the wrong way or blame it on the mets not having enough good relievers, or both. but to expect franco to come in for an inning and get the outs just isn't something met fans should do.
mets fans shouldnt expect much at all other than mediocrity.
mediocre teams win world series. anything can happen in a short series.
only if they make the playoffs which we can assume with great certainty the mets wont.

I can't blame Howe - Stanton and Franco are the only lefties the Mets have out of the pen, and he has to work with what he has. It's just frustrating, if they had another decent lefty they'd probably have at least 3 or 4 more wins than they have now. Franco's already given up 3 HR's to left handed hitters, and he just doesn't seem able to handle the pressure of coming in in a pressure situation. Bring him in while the Mets are trailing, or have a good lead, he's fine. But in a tie or a slim lead, he chokes. 2-7, 5.50...time to call it a career...
