George is the authority and head star wars geek here, I want his opinion on the trilogy.

it's worth it. the bonus disk alone is worth it. they show had they made the vader mask for episode 3 and the changes the mad to it. And the first time Hayden was in full Vader costume. pretty cool behind the scences stuff from the original movies also. The quality is very noticable, the sound and picture is super. As far as the changes they really dont bother me. Most of the added scenes were in the re-releases a few years back anyway.

the stuff they bitch about is so miniscule, it's amazing. To notice this stuff you have to really be sick.
Then you have the seriously disturbed.
The over analytical morons.
Quote:Did anyone else notice a split second scene during the Vader/Kenobi fight where it looks like it got skipped over during clean up? It only last's a second and it looks hazier than the rest of the sequence.
Quote:YOU DON'T DESERVE A FIRST PRICE FOR THESE EDITION GUYS. MAY BE I'LL BE WAITING FOR THE "RE-REMASTER-SUPER-SPECIAL EDITION 2030"
Quote:Before Solo jumps on tauntaun and says "see you in hell" we see him walk to the tauntaun after his conversation with Rebel officer. Prior version of film cut out these few seconds. The short walk breaks up the conversation.
Then you have the seriously disturbed.
Quote:I am seriously crying right now, and I have been for the past half hour or so. ...off and on anyway.
I stopped ESB when I heard Boba for the first time. I have no desire to ever watch the dvds again. I saw ANH, and it wasn't too bad. I saw ESB up to Boba... and I'm never watching ROTJ. Or ESB. Or ANH. Ever again. Thank you so much, George, thank you so much for WASTING MY MONEY! And for ruining what was perfect!
Quote:Star Wars was perfect!!! PERFECT! And now it's RUINED! You people can't enjoy what you have! Can't accept the perfection that was handed you! And now you want more more more more! You're all greedy! GREEDY! I accepted it... I loved it... and now it's gone from me forever... At least I still have my VHSs, which I shall forever more watch because I am not going to watch my favorite movies be destroyed!
Quote:Boba gave me a point... a hope... a reason to be... He was my icon... my inspiration... And now he is ruined. I loved his voice... I truly did...
The over analytical morons.
Quote:As for Anakin behing Hayden... it does nothing but ruin everything. Ok, think about it logically for a moment:
The ghost is how you are when you die, right? If the ghost is young, this means Anakin truly died when Vader took over. Which means Anakin is dead. Gone. No more. This means that Vader could never become Anakin again because Anakin is gone.
The ghost being old means that Anakin was still there, only hidden deep within. It means that Anakin survived Vader, that there was an Anakin for Vader to go back to.

Not just forever watch but forever more watch!!!
How exactly has it been "ruined", I am a fan of the films I love them and i've probably watched them all atleast about 10 times a piece but I never study them to where I remember them shot for shot. I never really cared about the greedo shot first bs or the svelt jabba scene, or that the light saber was out of color.
But beyond that, I really dont remember the "originals" that is the films before the special editions on VHS, etc. I actually have the old versions on VHS, the ones from the 80's so i guess i'll have to go through them one day and compare. I used to have the SE VHS tapes but I loaned them to someone and he felt it was a gift and just never gave them back.

i don't think i would notice the changes at all, except for the part where haden is the ghost because the face of the original actor always used to scare me.
i'm so happy i have the original trilogy without the additions on vhs though.

It'll give me something to do next weekend, instead of just sitting around in a pile of my own shit drenched in tears wondering if today is finally the day I end it all.

A high dive off the Brooklyn Bridge would a great location.

The Greedo scene and the Jabba scene in the first one are a disgrace.

In the old ones or the special edition dvd with all the shit added, i'll assume you misspelled jabba.
10-03-2004, 01:00 AM
The added shit. It's a fucking joke. How the hell does somebody shot aand miss at someone who is 2 feet away from them? And that added Jabba scene is a joke. I fucking hate Lucas. The only reason i make a big deal over it is because I was insane for Star Wars when I was young. It was the greatest thing ever. Lucas took one of the few fond memories of childhood I have and took a big shit on it.
10-03-2004, 01:08 AM
yeah the greedo scene is pretty fuckin improbable but I never let it bother me much, the jabba scene was eh I kinda liked it to be honest.
Atleast I hear they replaced that fuckin ewok song at the end of ROTJ.

The entire dialogue in the added Jabba scene is ripped straight from the original Greedo scene (even maybe the editted one, so you would have the same lines in different parts of the movie if this is the case). It's horrible.

I see what you mean now. I really need to dig out the old tapes, I know I have them somewhere, the ones before anyone tried to remaster, edit, or add anything and watch them. Then watch the new ones on DVD.
Though I think the best bet woulda been to put both editions in the box set, like they did with The Butterfly Effect. You could either watch the theatrical version or the directors cut but you had the choice.
Though ofcourse that makes sense but it would cost Lucas more millions. Not to do that but when he releases them in a seperate box set.. then he releases all 6 in one box set. You figure episode 3 comes out may next year, it'll be on DVD by christmas time 2005, you let all the masses gobble up the single dvd. Then hit them with the super duper duper super deluxe box set of all 6 in one set. Then have seperate sets with the originals and the edited ones but make them different color boxes so the really obesessive collecters have to buy both. Then make the wide screen and full screen ones different colors as well, then they have to buy those too.

I want to see Lucas in the Al Queda movie. Then they can super impose stormtrooper masks over the black hoods.
10-03-2004, 02:27 AM
They can digitally impose lightsabers instead of the machettes.
