- criticslovesnatch - 06-11-2002 wow i agree with wormface. guess it had to happen eventually. - The Sleeper - 06-12-2002 wormface for president! - HedCold - 06-12-2002 uumm, i went to the last show because i LIKE strungout. i had no intentions of going for the other bands but since i paid for the ticket i'd figure i'd give them a shot. i also never heard of them, so i did not know what kind of music they played. i went to the skate and surf fest because my girlfriend wanted to, and i also gave the bands a listen to instead of just writing them off as thinking they're bad. i didn't like it. its not like i go to the shows and piss on everyone else's parade, i stand and listen and don't bother anyone. there's a problem with that? so my opinions of bands differs from yours, :thumbs-up:, i don't care edit - i also went to the yankee game today and i'm not a yankee fan. how is that different than going to a show as a fan of music thinking maybe i might hear something i like? edit2 - i never bitched about what they do in the pit, i asked why they do it. they can literally kill each other for all i care. Edited By HedCold on June 12 2002 at 03:00 - The Sleeper - 06-12-2002 you are just upset because the get-up kids weren't on the bill. - HedCold - 06-12-2002 ![]() - Wormface - 06-12-2002 disturbed rules:burnfucker: - Keyser Soze - 06-12-2002 hed cold, i appreciate your reviews. usually people just praise the band they say cause they usually are a fan to begin with so its a biased opinion. you might have a bias against punk, hardcore, or emo but its at least a change of pace from the normal kiss ass review. - HedCold - 06-12-2002 i did go into this last show hoping to enjoy at least one of these other bands, but it was just the same stuff i don't like. oh well and its not like i didn't enjoy myself and i was just standing around pissed off. even though i said that stuff asking about the mosh pits, i still like watching them do it. - drusilla - 06-12-2002 the last show i went to was static x at the vanderbilt in early may. they were amazing. i love seeing them in small venues. they had two other bands with them, who i have never heard of before & their names totally escape me right now. they weren't too bad. but static x is so awesome to see live. i can just stand back with my eyes shut & move to the music. next show is gonna be korn at the garden. but i like smaller venues way better. - criticslovesnatch - 06-12-2002 Coheed and Cambria in 2 days!!!!!! :bouncer: - SLASH - 06-12-2002 Quote:i can just stand back with my eyes shut & move to the music You forgot moving with me right behind you :-D Cars 2002: Ben Orr from the grave - Hybrid - 06-13-2002 i just viewed this thread for the first time and my hate for hedcold is rising. :fuckoff: - HedCold - 06-13-2002 i feel the love :loveya: - drusilla - 06-13-2002 Quote:You forgot moving with me right behind you you're the best :loveya: - criticslovesnatch - 06-15-2002 came from seeing Coheed & Cambria, The Reunion Show, The Movielife, and Catch 22 at the World first of all the world is a really cool place to see a punk show...its really small and all GA and everyone goes nuts. this is the first time i've been to a show there. Coheed fucking ruled. they were miles better than anyone else there, but unfortunately as they are pretty unknown they played a really short set. they were amazing though, i want to see them again soon hopefully. reunion show was awful...they are apparently a local long island band, but they just sounded terrible. it made me wish that they weren't on the bill and they gave that time to coheed. Movielife was good, better than the last time i saw them. they weren't great, but they played a good show. catch 22 was great, as always...the crowd went completely apeshit, one of the most ridiculous pits i've been in, the smallness of the crowd made it that much worse. they played a great set, one of the better ska bands out there. all an all a great show :-D - The Sleeper - 06-16-2002 Here's a short review of the Irving Plaza show I went to tonight: The Alps - Eh, the singer had some gay dance moves that were kinda amusing The Movielife - Suprisingly good, lots of fun live. I enjoyed them. Taking Back Sunday - Stole the show, they proved to me why they are one of my favorite bands. The lead singer mustve stage-dived like 10 times and he gets everyone involved. Best performance of the night. Midtown - Bleh, I enjoyed the water I was drinking though Thursday - Debuted a new song, came out for an encore song, great as usual. Yea. Good stuff. - Maynard - 06-16-2002 Weeee....I went to a show too. A little more reserved than the ones you guys went too. It was at Maxwell's in Hoboken. Small, loud, intimate. The Brought Low God damn, these guys fuckin rock. They were the reason I went to the show, and they didn't dissapoint. They are a NYC band, so if you get a chance, check em out. They are in the "stoner rock" vein, but really they're just great rock. Les Baton Rough Wow did they suck. We left after the first song to sit in the bar. They are a bad 2000 knock off of late 70's early 80's punk. They just sucked my mother fuckin ass. And I actually like alot of punk. The Warlocks They were pretty good. Very thick. We only stayed for about half their set. They are kind of a cross between Velvet Underground, and a heavy Pink Floyd. They had 2 drummers (but they played the same part??? I dont know why) 2 guitars, and a bass. They could have done with 2 guitars, but they all played different distortion to give a really thick sound. They were pretty cool live, but I think they would suck on disc. - The Sleeper - 06-16-2002 wow, I've never seen a band with 2 drummers before, that just seems really pointless. - Maynard - 06-16-2002 Well...some bands pull it off well. Grateful Dead Slipknot Ummm....some otheres... These guys didnt do it well. The only cool this was...One guy was lefty, and the other was righty, and they shared some of their cymbals. - The Sleeper - 06-16-2002 Quote:Slipknot Masks...2 drummers...fuck, can't think of a wiseass comment, maybe tommorow. |
