someone please explain the allure of math or accounting

- Hey Ladi - 10-09-2002

Math shows analytical (sp) thinking
I think the FBI & CIA hire math majors

They hire terrorists, hookers and thieves also. Doesn't say much for math majors now does it?

- Metalfan - 10-09-2002

Hell, i don't know...math just comes easily to me, so i majored in it :thumbs-up:

- Arthur Dent - 10-09-2002

In the 90's, Wallstreet fired all the economists and analysts and hired mathematicians instead. Mathematicians do better statistical analysis without bias or skew from "socio-economic pressures" and other economist bullshit.

Gives people who may have an interest in storytelling or acting a chance to use those skills in a relatively free-form (ie: scriptless) environment, with rules used to establish how certain actions or events who's outcome can't be determined solely on acting pan out.

Also gives people with less than perfect self-worth a chance to portray their ideal self to others. (for those who invest themselves highly into their characters)

Finally.. how many times have you watched Conan, Willow, Legend, Star Wars, etc.. etc.. and wished to be one of those people??? D&D and other RPGs are an amazing form of escapism.

Finally.. a lot of bestselling novel series and game series are interpretations of actual game sessions.

Oh, yeah.. the movie sucked.

I don't understand people who judge people based on their talents. Sure some math people are socially inept, but not all. So shut your hole. Rolleyes

- Hybrid - 10-09-2002

yea.

- PollyannaFlower46 - 10-09-2002

Math gives me a headache and makes me feel stupid...anyone who can do it without having a stroke is cool in my books.

- Noellevious - 10-09-2002

Not everything said on a message board is meant in utter seriousness.

So calm yourself.

Do you realize my dear that without math you wouldn't be able to do something as mundane as balance your checkbook? Don't take for granted or look down upon that which either does not interest you, or that you don't understand. My math degree is the reason I have the job that I do at the income that I make which allows me to own my house, cars, motorcycle, put my children in daycare, put food on the table etc etc.

Damned narrow-minded thinkers :moonie:

Oh great, now Magus is going to go off on one of his "its not just a message board" tangents.

- Noellevious - 10-09-2002

It is.

- 2 tired 2 give N F - 10-09-2002

without math we wouldn't have a place to post...

I fully agree. :thumbs-up:

What's the allure of supercharging a four cylinder rice burner? No matter how good you are, a good 6-cylinder american muscle car will kick your scrawny ass.
