you know...some luck is also good. my sisters friend busted his ps2 and the drive refused to open. somehow it completely dislodged itself from the motor that pushes the tray out. so i figured id give it a shot.

so i popped it open, open the disc drive. basically completely disassembled it and then put it back together. i also had to set it in the right position because the ps2 tray pulls the disc in and when it gets to a certain point, the laser raises up to read it (unlike pc drives, which just pull the disc back on top of the laser).

Now i have never openned up a disc drive before in my life and have only limited experience of working with pc hardware (installing RAM, HDs, and CD burners), but somehow it worked. so as long as you dont touch anything that looks fragile or imprtant, i think youll be ok.

it's the soldering that's a bitch.

some of the contact points are miniscule.

the better the chip.....the more contacts to solder

- QuickStop - 02-27-2004

thats why he isnt going to solder. hes going to get a no solder chip. i wouldnt even try micro soldering cause i have a shaky hand for some reason.

here

- PatCooper - 02-29-2004

can you copy a ps2 game onto a dvd +r? or just -R?

- QuickStop - 02-29-2004

i would imagine +Rs work

- LZMF1 - 02-29-2004

i used to use -Rs exclusively

- QuickStop - 02-29-2004

ok....so do +R work?

- PatCooper - 02-29-2004

i just read that both formats do work, but -r works better.
