i called up the subway headquarters before reading this.. turns out they arent even supposed to have a tip jar, let alone keep the tips. so im going in and asking for compensation and if they say no...i have dept of labor, and the Subway HQ against them. i have to do it tomorrow though cause neither of them are in today

cauase on saturday...it was really busy..and we got like 7 singles in the jar in like an hour..
it wouldve been like i was making $8/hr...but i dont get teh tips. thats how its gonna be all summer..so i said fuck this...and left an hour early and decided that i was done there. i havent worked since cause ive gotten islander playoff tix for monday and tonight. so i called up "i cant work cause i got islander tix...owned"

Did they just start stealing your tips? Seems to me they've been doing it since you've been working there and you're using it as a reason to quit. To me, that's the setup for a reason to get fired. I would've said something from jump. You don't really have an argument for getting retroactive tips since there's no way for you to quantify them.

well it was pretty much my first job and i was just happy to be getting money...but after a while i realized that i was getting paid less than everyone i know and do more work than most of them, then i started counting the tips and runing some numbers. before that..i really didnt realize how much they were screwing everyone over.
so now i am going to get what theyve been stealing from me whether i have to go through dept of labor, subway, or whatever. and even if i dont...then the rest of the employees wont be getting fucked anymore. i still have like 3 friends that work there.
