Hey, someone finally used the word covalent!!
An oxygen atom has 2 covalent electons. Atoms don't like having free covalent electrons so they bond with other atoms with covalent electrons so that one covalent electron from each team up and produce stability.
When two oxygen atoms get together, they each throw in their 2 covalents and create stability.
Hydrogen has only one covalent electron, so it takes TWO hydrogen atoms to equal the two covalent electons on one oxygen atom.
Hydrogen Pyroxide is H2O2 and is NOT stable. If you leave the top off the bottle, it will break down into Oxygen and water spontaneously.
