- Maynard - 06-10-2002 Here's a 20 questions he did.... 20 Questions with Buzzo And here's the new MUZINE Call & Response with Buzzo.... We sent Melvins guitarist / vocalist Buzz Osborne a CD of six songs, each identified only by title. Here's what he had to say about the selections Message from Buzz: Ok. I 've been asked to express my opinions on some songs and, although I am full aware of the fact that opinions are like assholes and everyone's got one, some fools seem to be interested in mine. So here goes. The Artist: Electric Wizard The Song: "We, the Undead" The Album: Let Us Pray The Skinny: Dope and Sabbath loving doomers This is raw...and that's a GOOD thing. It's sludgy guitars and Cookie Monster-esque vocals warm the cockles of my cold little heart. The song's a little long for my tatse but I still have to give it an A+ The Artist: Moby The Song:"We Are All Made of Stars" The Album: 18 The Skinny: Hey now, he's a pop star This starts out kinda of cool, slightly reminicent of Here Comes the Warm Jets era Eno or Magazine. I could almost listen to it if it weren't for the mercilessy repeating chorus. I HATE hearing the same trite lyric over and over and over and over just because the singer doesn't know when to shut the fuck up. The Artist: Weezer The Song: "Dope Nose" The Album: Maladroit The Skinny: Emo is dead. Long live emo I hate this kind of light rawk crap. It's wat too happy, too sappy, way too crappy for me. What a hideous guitar sound. It's less interesting than the storyline of the worst porno ever made. It's worse than food poisoning. The Artist: High on Fire The Song: "Hung, Drawn, and Quartered" The Album: Surronded by Theives The Skinny: Low end, bowel quaking indie metal This rules. It sounds like Motorhead. It's ferocious, it's relentless, it's raw, it rocks. It's good; it's not NEW or anything, but it's good. The Artist: Ashanti The Song: "Foolish" The Album: Ashanti The Skinny: En fuego R&B sensation Putrid generic R&B vomit... or is this called soul? Whatever it is , it's just like a million other R&B shit songs. Syrupy soulless "singing", if youy can call it that and the same irritating riff over and over, ad nauseam The Artist: Wu-Tang Clan The Song: "Redman" The Album: Various/Loud Records, the Early Daze The Skinny: Hip-hop troopers I have nothing nice to say about this... at all. I can't listen to it. A bunch of name-dropping gangstas. Spare me. - HedCold - 06-10-2002 he bashed the wu. ![]() - SLASH - 06-10-2002 Do you think that you and Kid can ge togehter and collaborate on an official Muzine Call & Response Thread? Ooooh Oooh Oooh, why don't we do a call and response thread that the members of CDIH can be given a set of songs to comment on. C'mon, that's a nifty idea, isn't it? - Maynard - 06-10-2002 Quote:Ooooh Oooh Oooh, why don't we do a call and response thread that the members of CDIH can be given a set of songs to comment on.
