- JimmyBlueEyes - 10-31-2002 Just saw it on the news and apparently confirmed by someone I know listening to NYPD radio. Jason Mizell, aka Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC was shot in the head and killed in Queens earlier tonight. Run DMC was one of the first rap groups to hit mainstream successs back in the 80's. This sucks....one of the founding fathers of rap gone like that. - The Jays - 10-31-2002 ... these fuckers were apparently buzzed into the studio, and shot him and another person... - LyricalGomez - 10-31-2002 :disappointed: Hard times is nothing new on me, I'm gonna use my strong mentality Like the cream of the crop, like the crop of the cream Beating hard times, that is my theme Hard times in life, hard times in death, I'm gonna keep on fighting till my very last breath - The Jays - 10-31-2002 [Teenweek] Quote:Run-DMC rapper slain in New York[/Teenweek] - drusilla - 10-31-2002 ![]() - SLASH - 10-31-2002 Black on Black violence Rules! - Mad - 10-31-2002 Quote:Black on Black violence Rules! Robbery or payback? - crx girl - 10-31-2002 i live in queens. :-( and i think this belongs in music. - Hey Ladi - 10-31-2002 :disappointed: such a shame - Maynard - 10-31-2002 Growing up, I can remember buying RUN-DMC. IT was my first ever rap album. I bought it on tape, and I wore that thing out. I thought they were fresh, and innovative. Buying that album way back in 1984 changed me and the way I listened to music. I'll miss you Jay. Rest in peace brother. Jam Master Jay Kick off shoes, jump on the jock Listen to the Jam Master as he starts to rock His name is Jay and he's on his way To be the best DJ in the US of A J-A-Y are the letters of his name Cutting and scratching are the aspects of his game So check out the master as he cuts these jams And look at us with the mics in our hands Then take a count, 1-2-3 Jam Master Jay, Run-D.M.C He's Jam Master Jay, the big beat blaster He gets better cause he know he has to In '84 he'll be a little faster And only practice makes a real Jam Master We're live as can be, not singing the blues We got to tell you all the good news The good news is there is a crew Not 5, not 4, not 3, just 2 Two MC's who are claim the fame And all other things won't be the same Because it's about time for a brand new group Run-D.M.C to put you up on the scoop We make the fly girls scream in ecstacy We rock the freshest rhymes at a party We put all the fellas in a daze It's everyone that we amaze And we got the master of a disco scratch There's not a break that he can't catch Jam Master Jay that is his name And all wild DJ's he will tame Behind the turntables is where he stands Then there is the movement of his hands So when asked who's the best, y'all should say: Run-D.M.C and Jam Master Jay Jam Master Jay is the one in charge It's up to him to rock beats that are truly large He is the master of the scratch and cut So move your arms, so move your legs So won't you move your butt We're not talking ground, we're not talking sky We're not talking low, we're not talking high We're not talking big, we're not talking small We want all of the people on off the wall We're not talking night, we're not talking day But we're talking 'bout Jam Master Jay - FNMoron - 10-31-2002 :disappointed: Damn..... that sucks.... RIP JMJ...RIP Shot in the head in his recording studio. Left his wife and 15 year old son behind. - mikehern - 10-31-2002 Didn't I see this somewhere else? look here Edited By mikehern on 1036070607 - Danked - 10-31-2002 CRX will get to practice her merge button once again. :thumbs-up: - Keyser Soze - 10-31-2002 RIP JMJ I was a huge fan back in the days of Raising Hell and Tougher Than Leather. They were pioneers, brought rap into the mainstream along with the Beastie Boys. JMJ will be missed. He was never down with the whole east coast vs. west coast feuds, but the media is so clueless they will run with that angle. If a rapper dies, they automatically attribute it to how violent rap music is and basically use something like this to further perpetuate sterotypes. - DoughBoy - 10-31-2002 "Mix Faster, Jam Master..." - GonzoStyle - 10-31-2002 Quote:what the Hell does Run Dmc have to do with East Coast vs West Coast as I heard on channel 4 news this morning. This is sudden, I didn't know till I just read it here, this is really sad. My 1st Rap Album was also a Run DMC album. Tougher Than Leather is where it all started for me. - Teenweek - 10-31-2002 Quote:Your terrible expertise in sports doesn't end there. Is this still about your whole complex with Brady and Bledsoe? And I like Run DMC. There last song I liked was Down with the King. There last album blew. - GonzoStyle - 10-31-2002 :-( |
