why would a food place say "if you don't get your receipt, the meal is on us!" what benefit does this have for the food place? no customer who gets food gives a shit about getting a receipt, cause like, YOU CANT RETURN FOOD 5 DAYS LATER. This has bothered me for a while.

I have to have receipts in order to get reimbursed by my company when I travel. So receipts are valuable in that instance, but probably only then.
