when i got mine done it didn't hurt at all, and i don't recall suffering any pain afterward either Rolleyes

don't be nervous at all...i was so nervous, i was about to walk out, but my sister would have killed me for losing the $50 deposit she had put down. it does hurt, but its not that bad. its actually a good pain. i loved it. if you are in a lot of pain you can always ask them to stop...and they ask you through out it how you are feeling.

I've gotten pierced and enjoyed the pain from that, so everyone says I'll enjoy the tattoo pain as well, but I'm just nervous because its a longer process than a piercing, and well I'm scared that I'll wuss out and look like a pussy. I know the one I want and where I want to get it, now its just a matter of picking a day to go, and getting the money. It's a custom job too, so I have to see how much it will cost....oh well...thanks for the info about the pain.

the pain factor all depends on where you get it...the thinner the skin, such as ankle or wrist, its going to hurt more. the only time mine really hurt was when he was doing the tip of the star because it was right on my spine. ouch. but other then that, it ruled.

also make sure that it is something that you REALLY want. you are going to have this on your body for the rest of your life. i waited 2 years before i finally got mine, just to make sure that it was exactly what i wanted. i love mine, cause its a part of me. i sometimes forget that it is there, and i get scared when i catch a glimpse of it in the mirror.

mine is in a bad spot so it hurt, but nothing excruciating. they said mine was gonna one of the more painful ones and it felt like someone was pinching me hard for like 15 minutes. not so bad, but not fun.
as for making sure its something you want, i spent 2 months drawing and redrawing it till it was exactly what i wanted. the drawing time also helped give me time to make sure i really wanted a tattoo and that it wasnt a whim.

ankle hurts a lot from what I heard. But basically go to the tatoo shop and pick out your tat, then leave. Come back in a few weeks and if you still want it, get it. Cause my friend got the ugliest tatoo, it was cool to him back in 94 but now it looks dumb. He was a big nirvana fan so he got cobains face tatooed on his arm. Now he has hated Nirvana since like 96, it was an impulse thing.

Some people told me it is not as much pain, as a numbing feeling.

My friend did something stupid like that too, she was obsessed with RHCP when we were like 16, and she got some art work thing from their album tattooed on her hand...(if I find a pic, I'll post it, its the cross thingie), and she regretted it about 2 days later.
