I'm pretty sure Atheists are around 3 or 4% (this includes agnostic/no religion specified), a bit more than Jews...I remember reading a report on this a few weeks ago, I'll see if I can dig it up.

That means that all of the people in the country who believe either
a) there is no god
b) there is a god, but not an active god
c) there is a God who created the planet, but the bible is just fables
d) all that stuff, but that there are many parts of the bible that are just foolish and impossible
e) that the basics of the bible are all 100% true, but the faliibility of man's memory changed the original story in the thousands of years between when it was first "said" and when it was written down (hundred plus for the New Testament) made the story not the literal word of God.

COMBINED are less than those who think that every single letter of the bible is idential to when the burning bush told Moses

I haven't lived other places, but I've visited about 70-75% of the states.

I grew up religious, went to CCD and church every Sunday, my mother goes like three times a week, I don't know if I could be friends with someone who thought the bible was the literal word of God.

Well, I was 9 and 10 at the time of visiting most of these places.

Galt, it would AMAZE you how most of this country is so fucking devoted to their God. You see how bad it is just in a poll - it's really basically 99.9 in southern states and western states (not Cali, Oregon, Washington (a wonderful place)-but I couldn't drive through Utah because smoking a cigarette was a sin...therefore, a crime.

the scary part is that they consider people like to be the scray part.

The religious freaks I work with just can't understand how I can't believe in the bible. I ask some of them, well I respect your beliefs but you can't seriously believe the bible as complete fact. The stories in the bible are just that, stories. Though stories with meaning to the reader on how to live a "proper" life. It's as factual as "the boy who cried wolf" story, its not factual but it makes sense and teaches kids a lesson for life and thats what the stories in the bible are.

But no they believe it word for word, they believe noah built a wooden boat and fit every species on earth onto this one boat... two of each even. They belive the raining frogs, the fire the brimstone and all that.

The fact is that all of them are fuckin hypocrites, 2 of them have kids out of wedlock, one of them has 3 out of wedlock and still isnt married and has 2 different fathers. One of them is cheating on her husband, the other is cheating on his wife with her best friend. The other is doing a refinance for his own mother and is getting backpoints, which banks pay if you sell a client a higher rate. So he knows his mom can barely afford her current mortgage and he's selling her a rate higher than she should get so he could pocket a higher commision and he isnt going to tell her. Yet all of these people think of me as a heathen who will burn in hell when jesus comes down on his chariot with chocolates and teddy bears for all the good christians.

Yet every week during lunch they go to the mall to buy religious books and articles and other shit like pictures of jesus and little crystal angels and shit like that, all in between planning on how they're gonna "dump" their kids so they can party on a weekday.... without their spouses.... oh and ofcourse where they can cop some really good weed.... yeah but I am the one goin to hell.
