Quote:someone please explain the allure of math or accounting
I was never a huge fan of math, but being able to figure out numbers quickly in your head does have it's advantages over having to work them out on paper all the time - since I'm in the market for a new house, this has really come in handy (esp. in dealing with real estate agents)
As for accounting, if you like numbers, it's a decent career. I'm not overly pleased with it, but at the time it seemed like a solid career to go with. Originally I was a CompSci major, but the market was super-competitive then, and business careers were looking better. The irony (for me) is I've learned more about computers in my spare time since I graduated than I learned about Accounting while I went to college and worked on the job. I've been mulling a career change as of late, but I'm finding it very difficult to set time aside to go back to school to get what I need under my belt.
I'm doing OK and I'm making a decent salary - I have friends who need work desperately but can't find anything - and considering I was on the same path that they were on, I think I'm doing allright :-)
