While I think they did a great job on SNL, they tend to be more reserved on Letterman. They tear it up everytime they're on Conan though. I don't know if it's a case of nerves or time constraints or what, but they don't really turn heads when they're on Letterman and I wonder if they do it purposely. There was a kickass Hard Rock Live performance on VH1 a couple of years ago that I believe just felt more like one of their shows to them.
