It sucks being away from home no matter were you are. Christmas 94 sucked at Ft Knox, Christmas 95 sucked in Korea, Christmas 2000 sucked in Mississippi. We still have troops in Bosnia, Korea (which must really suck this year with all the shit going on there now), South America, Cuba, all over the world. That's our job, we do it for love of our country, a sense of patriotism, of duty. Not for money. A private (E-1) with less than four months in service will earn as of Jan 1, $1,064. AFter four months it goes up to 1150. Those are PRE TAX dollars.
