20% waiters/waitress if service is better than average, 15% or less if sub-par. $5 for the hair stylist, $2 or $3 for delivery guys. Fuck the Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks cup. Why should I tip someone that is being paid a full wage for handing me what I ordered over a counter? Would you tip the McDonalds drive up window person?

if the service at a restaurant isnt excellent then they get nothing. the point of going to a restaurant is to have someone else make and serve your food. if they fuck up half of that equation, they get zip! if they have a personal problem that makes it hard for them to work, they should stay home. if i am being difficult, tough shit, thats the job!

Garbagemen=$10 (They did not pick up my garbage 3x this year

Alright weed, here is a silly question:

Where do you leave the Garbagemen's tips?

When I lived in brooklyn, I'd see the guys. Here on LI - I never do.

Also - I always used to tip the paper "boys". When I moved to LI, someone told me that Newsday keeps the tips - so I haven't done it lately.

Restaurant = 15%-20% on average

Dunkin Donuts = I give them $1 every time, no matter what I buy because they always give me free stuff for my kids.

I have been trying to figure out what to give the garbagemen/mailman this year....the suggestions I have seen sound good :thumbs-up:

The lady who cuts my hair owns the place, I usually give her $5

I NEVER let the guys at the store help me bring shit out to the car. I'll get the fucking thing in there by myself, even if it kills me LOL.

The last time I moved, I gave the crew $100 to shave an hour off of their time. The hour would have cost me $200, so I was ahead of the game.

I always tip parking attendants....car has less scratches that way. Its even better to get to know their names....this comes in really handy when they say the "garage is full" yet they'll fit your car in :banana:

i know someone that worked for newsday. When you send your bill in, which is where most people send the tip, it goes to the billing agent who is in charge of a certain area. part of the tip goes to the person who actually delivers your paper, but the other part stays with the billing agent, who does nothing.

That's one thing that sux about suburbs. When the paper boy came to ring the bell to collect, you put a face to the service.

I give my mailman 50 bucks on xmas. I always tip 20% but I agree with arpi if the service sucks i'll leave less or at times whatever spare change I have in my pock sans any quarters. I can't leave like a dollar though, I seen people do it on small checks but I think to myself what can a fuckin dollar get me besides a 20 minute call? On a 10 dollar bill I leave like 3 or 4 bucks. Above 20 bucks I go at 20 - 30 %. It's a hard job and if someone deserves it an extra few bucks won't kill me.
