WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Last September 8, I interviewed President Bush's National Security Adviser, Dr. Condoleezza Rice. I was pressing her on Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's nuclear capabilities.
"We know that he has the infrastructure, nuclear scientists to make a nuclear weapon," she told me. "And we know that when the inspectors assessed this after the Gulf War, he was far, far closer to a crude nuclear device than anybody thought -- maybe six months from a crude nuclear device."
Dr. Rice then said something that was ominous and made headlines around the world.
"The problem here is that there will always be some uncertainty about how quickly he can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."
they are all OPINIONS by people on how close saddam was or is to building nuclear weapons.not to mention you changed your entire argument from 'they said saddam had nuclear weapons' to well they didnt say he had nuclear weapons but they're still lying about something.
i have little doubt in my mind that saddam would have tried to acquire and develop nuclear weapons if he was left to his own devices.
thats not anyones fault but the american public for making connection even though bush never said he had nuclear weapons.....bush never said saddam had ties to al queda either, he never lied about it.
if the american public connected saddam to 9/11 its their own fault, the president never made the connection.
you can swat around at conspiracy theories all you want, facts are facts.

really???
For example, this statement by Bush on February 8, 2003:
Saddam Hussein has longstanding, direct and continuing ties to terrorist networks. Senior members of Iraqi intelligence and al Qaeda have met at least eight times since the early 1990s. Iraq has sent bomb-making and document forgery experts to work with al Qaeda. Iraq has also provided al Qaeda with chemical and biological weapons training. And an al Qaeda operative was sent to Iraq several times in the late 1990s for help in acquiring poisons and gases.
Again, I said I felt we should have finished what we started in Afghanistan over and over again in this very thread.
Quote:Did Bush use money authorized by congress for the war in Afghanistan to start planning the invasion of Iraq?
I don't know, did he? Cite your sources.
Quote:Did Bush lie when he says that his Generals have never made requests for more ground troops?
Show me the quote where Bush said it.
Quote:Why is the War in Iraq not included in the Budget?
It should be, you and I are in agreement that the war is being mismanaged.
Quote:Why is the Iraq war funded by emergency spending measures?
see above.
Quote:Did Bush lie about pre-war costs in invading Iraq?
i dont think he lied, i think he was incompetent and did a poor job in planning and forseeing how drawn out and difficult it would be and did not have a clear exit strategy.
Is the Bush administration guilty of destruction of evidence as their emails have been destroyed after Libby claimed Cheney instructed him to release Plame's status as a cia operative?
