Thanks everybody! The paperwork has all been signed, so we're official now. Close will happen on October 31, and we will take possession a week later.
We were talking with our mortgage guy today, and he feels that although we paid a little bit more than we were hoping to, overall we got ourselves a steal. The sellers added new furnace and central air last year, upgraded the electrical system last year, and also added brand new washer/dryer this summer. We'll be taking advantage of the government's deal for first-time home buyers, and when we get our 2008 tax return, we should also get a credit for $7500, which will be used to spruce up some stuff around the home.
I still can't help but laugh that the stupid freezer wound up playing such a large role in the final deal.

Right now I'm still sort of pissed at the lady who nearly hit me with her van in the grocey store parking lot this evening. I was walking to the door and she went flying through the "stop for pedestrians" sign. I had to quickly jump back to avoid her. As she went by, I started smacking the windows of her van, and did she seem to notice? Nope. Kept right on tearing through the parking lot.
