your shrub looks more natural than mine. did your family trim that together?

post your shrub - sunshyne - 12-22-2008

post your shrub - Howie Feltersnatch - 12-22-2008

don't have a picture today but our Christmas tree and my inlaws Christmas tree were both planted by my wife and her brother when they were 5 and 2. They were growing too thick along the drive way so they got the big chop..

absolutely beautiful trees. ours is 9 feet tall and my inlaws is probably 15

100% fake. Not a fan of the natural shrubs.

just wanted to show y'all what me and my girls made!!!! YUMMY!!

post your shrub - sunshyne - 12-23-2008

Allyson, I have the same problem with my youngest cat, she thinks its fun to steal the snowflakes. I tie fishing line to my tree and anchor it to the wall with the little hook thingys you can screw in to hang stuff. It works pretty good.

post your shrub - Allyson - 12-23-2008

I may have to try that if it happens again. I put it up a few weeks ago and they were fine with it, then yesterday this is what I come home to.

post your shrub - Howie Feltersnatch - 12-23-2008

My dog likes to gently pull the glass ball/bulb thingys off...the hooks stay on the tree but the balls get left out all around the house, un-broken

post your shrub - sunshyne - 12-23-2008

Here's a pic of my family room with the tree in it. I will try to get a close up tonight. I'm not entirely moved in to the house, no pictures on walls, no books on shelves, etc. But it looks better simply because I put the Christmas tree up.

Um, I think Mardi Gras threw up on your tree.

post your shrub - dingdongyo - 12-23-2008

sunshyne - your house is ridiculously nice. i want to mooch already.

howie - my brother used to eat the glass balls when he was little. i have no idea how he's not dead.

fetus - no worries. no self-respecting gay man in the world would mismatch giftwrap and ribbon that badly.

I thought the Dr Suess idea was pretty cool. It sure made a statament. Yeah. We got everything from Hobby Lobby, and sticking with the theme, the feathers seemed like they had to go...that wasn't my touch, but I liked it.

This year, the boys decided that we needed more than a tree. We needed a forest...I present, the Mutant Tree!
It takes up the whole corner of our living room.

Closer look at the top:

Yes, the tree does split into a "Y" shape at the top.

My Mom and Dad had a tree like that one year. They planted it in the front yard and it actually grew into two trees. Inbreeding tree farmers I guess!! Big Grin

No, my Dad didn't grow it . . .

Did Santa visit everyone's houses early this year? Why are everyone's gifts out already?!

We haven't actually posted a picture of our tree, but I think Plungee is going to try and take one tonight (if the monsters darlings will go to bed), but wrapping all the shit on Christmas Eve is for the birds when you have 6 to wrap for. They get Santa and gifts from the parents too!

post your shrub - lokizilla - 12-24-2008

I still think if there wasn't a chance of the tree surviving even with presents. I think the youngest would have marked all of them. LMAO

Ahh see my parents just wrapped and then hid the gifts wrapped until Christmas Eve. I think for my kids I'll tell them their big gift (bike or whatever) was from Santa and the rest is from us. It's easier to lie if it's half true.

My parents did the same thing. Santa always had special "Santa" wrapping paper, though. My dad would always label Santa's gifts, and Mom would label the regular gifts, since we knew her handwriting, because she wrote all of the school excuses notes and whatever.

That is so sweet. Mom wrote all of ours, even the Santa ones. I got to say it was so wonderful seeing the "special Santa paper." Thanks for helping me remember a good Christmas memory.

post your shrub - linzi - 12-24-2008

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who does Mom and Dad gifts and Santa gifts...I just got through wrapping the Santa gifts tonight...yep it's even in it's own special paper.
My parents never wrapped our Santa gifts...it was all spread out on the couch and on the floor...that kinda sucks, you see it all and then it's over. I love to watch my kids tear into the wrapping paper to see what else they got...1 more day to go!!!!!! ;D

post your shrub - Allyson - 12-24-2008

My parents used to do everything from Santa and his crew - I'd get some from Rudolph, Mrs. Claus, etc. My mother wrote all the labels and letters but apparently underestimated my intelligence because before long I recognized her handwriting.
