He did have a '65 'Stang, but he left it out of the garage, and well away from the house while he and some buddies were skeet shooting. Someone forgot to set the parking brake. It rolled of the embankment in the front yard. It was totalled instantly. It was in beautiful condition, though it need some engine work, the paint and interior were both original and it still looked new. Being the mean daughter I am, I laughed when I was told. Second car was my favorite though, an 87 saab 900 turbo, handeled amazing, and just fun to drive. after the tranny went on that i ended up with a 92 pontiac grand prix, also a nice car to have. transmission went on that one too then I got a 93 honda civic stick shift( my first manual transmission)I would love to get another stick, this car was good and dependable, especally for the 300 bucks i paid for it. and well that leads to my current car. This topic is about Cars. - professorpinasheep - 03-10-2009 First car was an 86 Chrysler LeBaron.. with a grannyback... or whatever you call that crappy material behind the rear windows on the outside. After that I bought an 81 Pontiac Phoenix, kind of a hatchback, in the pukiest color imaginable. But it had PW and PL, pretty pimpin for an 81. Next was a 92 Nissan Sentra, my favorite car.. 1.6L 4-cyl that got like 42mpg on the highway in fifth gear/overdrive. Deer totaled that, and I drove a 93 Ford Tempo for a while. Good little car, got me back and forth to work. Now I drive a 2000 Chevy Impala, my second fav. Never had a problem beyond routine maintenance (brakes, etc). Gets decent mileage in the city and on the highway, and it fits three car seats.. win. This topic is about Cars. - shawnp - 03-10-2009 I forgot to add, my first was a 74' F-100, big mud truck, big motor, big tires. Next was a 96' F-150, great truck. I had it in college and as a matter of fact, I just sold it. Sad to see it go. My wife has a 98' F-150, it's now my hunting truck as she drives my new one. Manual transmission, great gas mileage. Ugly Car. Sold when it still ran great. Like this, but white: 1995 Saturn SC2 - Fun car to drive. Lemon. Repaired then replaced transmission, replaced engine, engine died, sold for a couple of hundred bucks. 1999 Mercury Cougar - By far my favorite. Got it with about 20k miles on it. Drove it for about 4 years, and up to 150k miles. Absolutely no maintenance.(except brakes, tires, etc) Some jackass rear ended me as I was waiting to turn left, and totaled it. (Mine was green) 1999 Oldsmobile 88 - Granny car, but a good one. Runs and looks great. 190,000+ miles. No payment. Cheap insurance. Can't complain. (Mine is Maroon) This topic is about Cars. - zdunklee - 03-11-2009 Rock Monster Wrote:couple of hundred bucks. I thought you just said this thread was about cars? This topic is about Cars. - linzi - 03-11-2009 First was the POS, the Pontiac Grand Am, 1986. She had about 150,000 miles on it, the drivers side window wouldn't go down, the cloth panel on the roof would sit on your head as you cruised. I used thumb tacks to hold it up, FAIL. The effer would over heat and the antifreeze would boil over and go everywhere so I never traveled. Plus she had no AC so you would literally roast in the summertime with the heat and humidity here in good ol' NC... Moved in with now husband and we got a green BMW 325i. Sweet car, loved to drive it. Transmission went out and it wasn't worth getting fixed so we sold it cheap. We were also expecting at this time so we went down to one income and then we got a 89 Honda Civic, stick shift, which I could not drive. So I basically went a year without my own car. That sucked! We got our 98 4x4 Chevy Blazer that we still own and that has been the best car ever!! She sometimes has issues with her drivers side window but she gets us on the beach and that's all that matters! I finally got a 97 Ford Explorer right after the second kid was born...fully loaded, leather, all automatic, CD player that held 6 CD's, I drove the hell out of that. The kids completely destroyed the interior. She needed tires, her transmission was slipping, and she was just going under. She also had 150,000 miles on her. Which leads us to my new baby...an 09 Honda Civic. I really really really love driving this car. She's awesome on gas, still has that new car smell, and the kids have the fear of God in them if they eff this one up. Nice. When you're writing about a year the apostophe goes before the number. like this: It was back about '04 or so when I first met Heather. when it's a distance of feet the apostrophe comes after the number. 94' ( 94 feet) Now you're all smarter and I get a nice warm feeling inside for sharing my knowledge.
