September Get Together - Biff - 08-21-2009
Mark the Valet will be in town so I think we should plan another Saturday get together. We can do a picnic type thing again or perhaps a restaurant.
Throw out some suggestions for dates/times/places and we'll get a consensus.
Howie has to show up this time too.

I might have to work the 3rd and the 4th, but I get out at 6pm. Otherwise our schedule is pretty much open. Besides a possible trip up to T.C., but we'll schedule that around you guys.
If we're thinking about a park/picnic I might be able to get us a reservation at our park at the zoo... Or at least figure out which areas aren't reserved so we could claim it.

So far as I know the 5th is no issue for me, the only reason the 4th is bad is cause of work....stupid work always getting in the way....maybe I'll just win the mega millions and not work anymore.

I know I have the 5th off because I requested it for a family thing, so that day is out.
The 4th should be fine if we do something after 6:00 PM.
I know Dr. Grins has comedy shows on Friday nights and tickets are only $10, but you have to be 21+ to get in.
Otherwise we can get together at Applebees or Fridays or something similar.

Where would we like to go to do this?
Options:
1: Picnic in a park somewhere
Pros: Don't have to pay restaurant prices
Cons: You have to eat the food people brought, the weather might not cooperate.
2: Restaurant
Pros: Indoors, booze
Cons: Gonna be noisy on a Saturday night.
3: Someone's house
Pros: Indoors, don't have to pay restaurant prices
Cons: People spitting in their dish to pass, people will know where you live.
So....discuss?
I was thinking GRBC was a good place to go, unless someone else had a better idea...

The 4th looks good weather wise.
Personally I would rather avoid the whole "restaurant" thing because if the group is big enough it is harder to mingle/converse.
Depending upon the turn out, we could do just like we did last time at that little park on Byron Center. I have access to my tenant's grill right next door and everyone could bring whatever meat they wanted and a dish to pass. I will supply paper plates, condiments, napkins, plastic utensils etc.
However, I don't want to "run" the show so everyone should pipe up with what works best for them and we'll have a majority rule.

I had another thought on choice of venue for a get together. How about a a coffee house like Kava House on Kalamazoo and M6? It would be less noisey on a friday night and would have enough room for a small group. The draw back would be no beer, but hey, if we decided too, we could travel to a place with booze later. Just a thought.

If someone doesn't say "we'll meet here at this time and do this" by Monday at 5 pm then I'm going to set the venue, time etc and everyone can deal with it.
