Jackie and Jimmy Show - madkathy - 09-06-2009
What are your opinions on the bonus 17 tracks? I just finished listening to the second installment of the Jackie and Jimmy show, and I don't know whether I'm more confused or appalled. Wasn't his goal to get free food? Didn't she offer to "replace" his sandwiches? How did he manage to be so incredibly mean without being funny? I am not on board with the J&J show.

I was wondering if anyone else would bring this up, didn't want to sound bitchy. I haven't heard the 2nd one yet, but the first one wasn't a bit funny. That douche Jimmy sounds like he wants to be a Zane-like character, but he just sounds, well, douchy. Zane's traffic reports were 100 times funnier. Let's face it, he got a break because his friend or whatever Jackie got an internship with FBHW and they somehow let them put this garbage on the podcast. At first I was thinking, why aren't they tearing this apart on the show, but it's not even good for that. It's just pathetic and a little sad actually. The first edition just drained all my energy. It didnt even sound like they were having any fun. When I first saw it on my podcast "The Jackie and Jimmy Show" I thought maybe they gave Zane's kids a microphone to make fun of their father or something. I think that might have sounded very professional compared to this. Jackie, good luck in your radio career, if that's what you want to do. Jimmy, good luck with your walmart career. Probably not good enough for Walmart, probably pretty upwardly mobile in some dollar store. Or gay porn. Unfunny douchy gay porn. I'm Ashley and that's what I think

i thought the first one was alright but I didn't care that much for the second one, im just not all that into prank calls that much but i didn't mind having it as a bonus segment

I've only listened to the first one but I felt like this was the type of show that FBHW are always making fun of, especially with their crazy digitized intro and outro. I was surprised the guys didn't mention it as well. Jimmy's voice sounds like the voice of, as Zane says, a puker, except when he laughs. That was actually my favorite part, when Jimmy laughed, because he sounded like such a dork, but it sounded natural and human. I hope they can get their own voice and not try to sound like every other radio show.

So, I wrote that last review having only heard the first one. Today, I heard the 2nd one. Now I take back everything I said before, because OH MY GOD SHUT THE F UP. Nothing in this resembled ANY kind of humor whatsoever. Prank phone calls? Really? I mean... REALLY? That McDonalds manager was one of the nicest people ever, she seemed really concerned and wanted to make it right. Is being a jerk funny to you Jimmy? Did ANYONE out there laugh at this? I'm not one to ever say don't post something to the podcast, but why are we boosting this douche's ego by allowing him this forum? Next week it's Jackie's turn to do a prank phone call. OOOOOOOOOOH! I'll be looking forward to this all week. Let me guess... nervous giggles and insulting someone that probably doesn't deserve it. And more giggles, and Porta-Johnny sneering in the background because "They deserve it because they have a job" Here's a challenge, Jackie and Jimmy. Do something funny. Stop being A-Holish college students. Get a life. You got your little podcast in the big leagues now.
Call them and tell them what you think about the Jackie and Jimmy Show. Tell them how great they are and how they aren't douchy hack wannabes at all. 231-629-4490

I would have to agree. When I first saw there was a bonus segment, I was excited. It is complete garbage, I like Jackie on the FBHW show. On her own, with Jimmy, it sucks.

Agreed, Jackie's a great intern, but there's a reason the guys always make fun of their first radio days...because they're not that good.
I just thank God that they've been using this as a 17th segment, so I can just skip it. The day that this replaces one of the shows 16 segments, I'll take issue.

I thought it was pretty decent especially when you consider what massive failures all of the other interns were on the mic. Besides IPJ who actually got a job out of it no one else has sounded remotely comfortable. Jimmy sounds a bit more natural at it than Dude Jackieway but overall it was a pretty decent little segment. I will agree that the first one was better than the second on. Prank phone calls are so silly at this stage of the game but let's be honest. It's a bonus 17th track. I'm not mining for gold here.
I hope Jackie and Jimmy keep it going. You can only improve with practice and by being an intern on the FB&HW show it's providing Jackie with a nice platform. The last thing I'd want to do is discourage them for trying. Everyone is far from great when they first start out. We've all heard the guys' first air checks and the Joe/Ben show.

What's wrong with you Jackie? Sure Free Beer, Hot Wings, Zane, and Joe's first radio experiences were kind of bad, but you can look back on those and laugh. The first one was so irritating that I didn't bother with the second-and by the sound of the feedback it was a good decision.
Maybe if it was an additional segment after the 'Pudding' show or something similar it wouldn't seem so terrible, but FBHW are a tough act to follow at the best of times.

Hey every one, Im sorry your so in hate with my podcast, its really just a way for me to work on editing sound and talking on air, I guess you can say and think what you want about it tho, if you dont like it you dont need to waste your time listening to it, just working hard trying to practice and get experience...

Come on Jackie, the editing sounds great. Well, it sounds like that Family Guy parody, but that's probably intentional. You have to understand that these are Free Beer and Hot Wings listeners, douchy college guy isn't going to gain any fans. Just do something that's not mean spirited, that's all. It really sounds like it ruined that girls day at McDonalds, she was trying really hard to make things right.

Just remember Jackie, the FB&HW listener fanbase is notoriously brutal. If the guys aren't 100% up to our obscure standards we go crazy on a massive bitch-a-thon. Believe me, I'd know. I lead some of them. So when you and Jimmy come along and put yourself out there like that it's no surprise that the reactions were less than positive. Especially with you being a part of the show the guns easily turned on you guys.
If you're just working on the editing then that's awesome. It seems likes the complaints are more about the content than the nuts and bolts. Please keep plugging away. Practice makes perfect.

I almost felt bad, but I just started listening to the last one they posted on the podcast and I'm pissed off all over again. Can I 15 second fight Jimmy on a future show? If I win, he gets a hair cut and stops acting douchy. I never hated anyone I heard so much haha.

I would stop listening if it made me THAT mad. Luckily the previous and next tracks are FBHW so it helps. I mean, I did think it was unfunny and mean what they did to that woman, and it just reminded me of all the douchy things college students do here in this douchy college town. I feel bad because I was out of line attacking him like that. If I lived there, I'd buy him a drink, although I'd still like to smack that grin off his face. haha just kidding. Thanks. BTW, today's show was definitely the best of the three. Much like FB&HW, I like it when you just tell an interesting story. People just being themselves and telling a anecdote is always far more entertaining that a bit. Bits tend to feel forced. Obviously I know nothing about radio but I'd recommend more stories and less bits. The wedding crashing story was genuinely interesting.
