I've decided to start a new thing titled: "Band of the Week". Every week (or thereabouts) I will feature a band that I am digging. It might be old, it might be new, it might be a signed band, or it may be an Indie.
The band of the week for this week is "The Concussions".
This band is fantastic if you are into instrumentals with a flair for surf, 50's, and psychedelic. The band members wear varying costumes and masks during their shows and they're just fun.

Although I'm not too crazy about them, my sister is in a local girl band in Nashville and will be touring soon. She's Opened for such bands as David Allen Coe, Hank Williams III and F.U.C.T
Her band sounds much like Courtney Love's band Hole would have before they were majorly produced.
They sound better live of course, but if you like punkish rockish grunge-ish shock rock girl bands, check them out on MySpace.

Well I found her in the bedroom next to me growing up. She used to be a rap-lovin-thuggy girl, and then I turned her over to the rock side. The lead singer is my sis. The rest of the girls are hilarious lesbians.

Biff's band of the week: Tom Petty
Petty is one of those artists that I really enjoy listening to his songs when they're on the radio and will rarely change the channel due to it being overplayed. His catalog of "hits" is so deep that there is rarely an overplayed song on stations in my area.

This week's band of the week is Metallica.
Many of us lost hope in them. Some when Load and Reload surfaced. Many when St. Anger plopped. Metallica became the punchline. The once proud king of all metal bands had taken a mighty fall.
Then comes Death Magnetic. I do declare for all the nations to hear that Metallica is back and as strong as ever. Go tell it on the mountain: The Metallica you knew and loved is alive and well.

Yea!!! I was a huge fan back in the days of the Black album. I went out and bought all the old (but awesome) stuff. I'm sooooo glad they're back and kicking ass!!!
I think Lars is just a dick. He can't help it. It's just who he is. He just needs to shut the eff up and play the drums, that's all he's good for.

The band of the week is "The Lanternjack"
Detroit based sleaze glam. It takes the basic theory of punk angst mixed with the leather clad eye liner of LA's glam scene in the mid 80's and serves it up raw.
If you like basic garage style rock then give them a shot.
