This is beyond too much government. Even with my somewhat socialistic ideals, this is entirely too effed up.

Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children.

A murderer aged 17 years, 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.

Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.
I actually don't see a problem with this
The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent

Actually this breaks several of our constitutional rights. Not happy, and they can't on the fact that it would go against everything in our constitution....so I hope they try were we can impeach those people trying to pass it.

I know you guys hate long posts, but at least I didn't post the whole document. Basically it says that if the Federal Gov. tries to take over what is Constitutionally a State's right, then they can separate from the Fed. gov. Any rules/laws they make that are above and beyond what is stated in the constitution become null and void. And there are other states with similar legislation

Damn, I gotta get outta tennessee. Would move to michigan but I don't like that nazi gov they have. Cali to fast for me. Arizona too damn hot. Montana would be nice. I love the frickin cold and could start my horse ranch for handicapped children and adults. Crisp air, open spaces, beautiful mountains and crystal clean lakes. Used to volunteer for program like big brother but was local deal. My great uncle was senator for Tn, floyd dennis was his name, he had a son with downs syndrome; he went to a horse ranch like that all the time. He really enjoyed it. I would go see him and he would tell me all about it.

Why in God's name would you move to our Godforsaken state? We have the highest unemployment rate and our state legislature is considered one of the worst in the nation (

They wait until a government shutdown looms almost every year lately before they actually get anything done, and even when they do get something completed, it's a complete fiasco. In any case, to get a real feel for our state's leadership all you need is a soundbite from our Gov, Jennifer Granholm. She called Congress's last vote to deny a bailout (before a loan was given with the new provisions) "unAmerican." ...and she's Canadian.
Where would we be without the agitators of the world attaching the electrodes of knowledge to the nipples of ignorance?

I know all about michigan. Spent 2 yrs delivering beds to furniture stores from W.Branch to Sturgis and Muskeegon to Port Huron to Detroit. Met a lot of great people and some that were just pissed at the world. I listened to their stories and their hardships. That is the reason I do not like the nazi gov. Have great friend in Jenison,Mi. He owns Discount Mattress on Chicago dr. His store is in strip mall beside Perkins restaurant. I still talk to him every week and he keeps me informed as to what's going on in the wolverine. His name's john. Great guy. No matter how bad business is he is always happy to be alive.

I've visited Michgan once a year for the last few years, and will say that you couldn't pay me enough money to "want" to move there. And California is awful too.

I don't really think the michigan economy would affect my income because I own and drive a semi BUT the taxes would eat me alive. Don't get me wrong; parts of michigan are beautiful especially the U.P. But I would only move to michigan if I was an alcoholic with a gambling problem. Everywhere you turn there's a damn casino.

Agreed. Visiting every once in a while is fine, but living there? In the winter?? I think it would kill me since I've gotten so pussy-fied by Tennessee weather.
