Nothing better than reshaping that first home. You should borrow Biff's kids for some cheap labor. My kids ALWAYS want to "help" with projects. Too bad I just want them to clean up after themselves!!!
Now, I can't fix anything without an unending chorus of, " Hey Dad"
Our Realtor is an avid gardner, and told us he'll drop by in the spring with some stuff for our planters. I can't wait to show him around the home, because it won't look a thing like it was when he was there before we bought it.

I can't WAIT to buy my first house and start beating it's ass! I'm so jealous of everything you've been talking about lately.

I think I would be too sad to see all of my hard work go away. I don't think I could do anything but paint a place I was renting. Everything else would have to come with me.

I think I'll take the cheese on this thread...
Work I've done (or had done) to a home I am renting.
crown molding and re-paint 3/4 of house
new hot water heater
new heating and air unit
new green board and vinyl siding
24x24 carport
2-16x12 sheds
20 ton of gravel
100' of 6' shadowbox fence
one partridge in a pear tree
Now, technically I have the option to buy this place , which I had planned at the time. If I don't, I won't regret it, because it means I've found someplace better. and I couldn't have lived in this place without all the improvements

Yup. You win.
Wow. That's a lot of work on a rented place, but if you couldn't have lived there without it, it was worth it, right?

It was just me and my 5 darlings, and I needed stuff to occupy my mind. Worth every penny. Therapy that works.

I love building stuff. Having a house to start fixing is a dream that I hope comes true for me soon. I have all kinds of new tools that are just begging me to use them.
Including:
Miter Saw
Scroll Saw
Circular Saw
Sawzall
Jig Saw
a couple Drills
Rotor Tool (not sure what the real name is)
Router
....the list goes on.... and *tear....these items are just collecting dust because I have no time or money to use them....and no house to use them on. All I've been able to do with ALL of these items are
A. Build an arbor/ mini pergola for my mom on the side of her house.
B. Build a deck at a friend's house
C. Rebuild a coffee table for me
the end....sad story....soon it will be better.... i hope.

OK fetus, you don't have to beg. I have a bathroom that needs redone. I guess I'll let you do it. See me Fri for details.

They are the reason it needs redone. No I am done with this house untill we make a decision. It's the old "polishing a turd" point of view. I am trying to let them grew up a little more, before I build our castle. And by "build" I mean pay someone a little more qualified than me.

What YOU need to do is to get good at building cages, right, and then put the kids in those cages until their 18th birthday.... then you won't have to worry about it.

Yay! Glad the power is back on! I've been bored to tears for the last 4 1/2 hours sitting here with no computer. Though I wish it had just stayed off a little longer, cause I was going to go home early, but now I've got to catch up on my work instead

What happened to the power in your office? Was it throughout your entire building? I bet it's the CMA Awards Show hogging all of it.

That was one of the things I loved about working at the mall in high school. If the place lost power for more than 15 minutes or so, they'd shut it down, and we all got to leave.

It was the whole block I think, even Demos' didn't have power for lunch and I really wanted a cup of soup . It probably was the CMAs. We're on generator and regular power combined right now, and hopefully as people go home and the power systems get back to normal, they will be able to shut down the generators and be on the regular power without it shutting down again.

Ok, so we definitely have to do lunch at Demos! :-X
Gosh I love that place. They really know how to operate a restaurant. Quick in and out and awesome food.
Edit: Damn CMA's!! They have caused me problems all freaking week. The only good thing is my boss left early today to attend!!

I was just informed by our IT guys that there was a gas leak downtown and they had to shut all the power off to find it.

Right now I'm curious about sunshyne's use of the dual flip off. I've noticed it in a couple of other posts. Are you flipping off the cup of soup or the CMA's? Or are you simply trying to use a sad face (i.e. : & ( ) which translates into a double bird to the reader?
For example:
sunshyne Wrote:yeah, the house I'm fixing we're just renting it At least we are getting a really good deal on the rent for all the work I'm doing. Are you flipping off your rental?
sunshyne Wrote:I think I'm getting sick so I took a Day quill and am still finding it hard to stay awake. I wish they had nap time at work. Are you flipping off your cold?
sunshyne Wrote:I missed this part of the segment, man! I hate going into work early Are you flipping off going to work early?
sunshyne Wrote:Dammit, why didn't you post that earlier, there's a chik-fil-a in the building i work in its closed now Are you flipping off chik-fil-a or the building?

Amazed at southerners....
Just got off the phone with a guy from Tennessee. He wanted me to "get him a bottle of good whiskey," just for sending me a drawing through E-mail.
are all people from Tennessee hicks?

I committed the terrible sin of taking a couple of short personal calls while not on my lunch. *Gasp*
Recently "the suits" have been looking for ways to get my department in trouble. Busting people for making/taking the occasional personal call, getting after people for taking a minute or two to talk with a co-worker, stuff like that. Yes, there are a couple of people here that actually do go overboard with those things and waste time, but for the most part everybody is good with how they use their time.
Nonetheless, they've decided to come down hard on everybody, and I got caught at the tail end of a phonecall. Something tells me I'll be hearing about it within a day.

That really sucks. I could not/ would not work anywhere like that, no matter how much they paid me. Granted I understand how some people might abuse, but family comes first.
How can they tell who you are talking too? You don't blow kisses into the phone do you? I used to, but the guys really let me have it..
