Anyway . . . back on subject . . .
I cannot believe that any school would have rules that do not allow the "blowing of a kiss" by a student to a parent. What in the hell? I would think that any school would want to put more love and compassion into their guidelines instead of strictly forbidding it. Especially to one's own parents/family. This is truly effed up. :wtf:

That's huge news here in Maine, I graduated in that same arena haha I work with some of the graduates of Bonny Eagle, they are all super mad

I wonder if waving is against the rules too....
If this was my school and I was getting ready to graduate the next year, I would just have them mail me my diploma and I'd sit out in protest. I'm surprised they don't have strip searches before the graduation to make sure the are no silly string or beach balls.
I want to know what the "agreement" was that they say the student made. Its probably seemed really good but the overseers will interpret it as they see fit.

at my highschool we weren't allowed to do anything but sit, wait, walk, handshake, sit, wait and throw hat.
no beach balls, no silly string and we were threatened with our diploma. We were allowed to 'pose' for a quick photo in front of the stage as we walked back to our seat but for the most part it was pretty strict
"Golf requires goofy pants and a fat ass. You should talk to my neighbor the accountant. Probably a great golfer. Huge ass!"

Here's a link to a better story about it. There's a link from there to a site it says has the "expectations" but the link to that site doesn't seem to be working right now. There's going to be a school board meeting about the graduation expectations on Monday night, so I get the feeling that will get interesting, as most meetings with pissed-off Mainers typically are.

The class of 2009, parents, staff members and the Bonny Eagle community want to have a
dignified and respectful graduation for members of the class and their family. Students have
worked for thirteen years and have met the requirements of graduation from Bonny Eagle and
are to be awarded for their accomplishment. To that end, class officers, parents and high school
staff are asking the following of members of the class and attendees of graduation:
Proper attire is required under gowns worn by graduates.
o Gentlemen will wear slacks, collared shirt, tie, and dress shoes. No
sneakers, boots, or jeans are allowed.
o Ladies will wear a light-colored skirt or dress and dress shoes. No
sneakers or flip flops are allowed.
No writing or decorations or any kind are allowed on student caps. All
students carry a yellow rose. No other items are allowed to be carried
during the graduation processional.
Those not dressed as required will not march at the Civic Center and will
receive their diploma the following Monday at school.
No noise makers/horns/bells during the graduation ceremony including
during the receipt of diplomas.
No inflatable items (beach balls, etc.) will be brought to the ceremony.
Students will be respectful of the quest speaker and student performers
during his/her presentation.
Student may celebrate – as a class – at the end of the ceremony.
Anyone who disrupts the ceremony will be escorted out of the Civic Center by security.

that looks like the same rules line by line that was given to us at our graduation...only our "Civic Center" was the highschool gym.
and there were 8 students graduating.

I still don't see how blowing a kiss deserved this reaction. I would like to see video of the graduation, to see if the kiss or the dismissal of the student was more distrupting.
