During Desert Storm, they were fighting for Kuwait's interests, not ours. Vietnam was no threat to us, either, but paranoia over the spread of communism launched us into that conflict as well.
I would agree with you on Vietnam, but the other two were directly related to oil.
Nevertheless, I believe that just being willing to serve in the armed forces is reason for exaltation.
