My second daughter was born with bladder extrophy. (bladder was outside the body.) They had to break her hips in order to put it where it belongs. The stitches got infected, came open and her bladder popped out at home. This happened......twice.
So the third time they broke her hips and put her back together they used pins and traction. ( like the old timey days) Twice a day we ( my wife cleaned while I held her still), had to pick the scabs and clean the sight of the pins.

My daughter screamed bloody murder the whole time. That was 12 years ago and I can still hear it in my head.
