I think he was just trying to be nice. All religions are "as personal as you make them". How I practice what I believe is always going to be different from others.

Bottom line, I can't see any reason that masturbation could be considered a sin in any religion. If I'm going to hell for masturbation, and some minger who has raped a child, or murdered a mother goes to heaven because "he asked for forgiveness" then why bother trying to be good?!!! If it makes you feel better to deny yourself then go for it!! I'll see everyone else in hell.
